Luke Chapter 2 - December 2nd

Repost from Vince Guerra
You know, books truly are the perfect gift. They’re inexpensive, easy to buy, easy to wrap, long-lasting, durable, and provide joy for years on end. You can even pass them down from generation to generation. The only problem is what to do with all of them, because discarding them is not an option for some of us. If that resonates, this one is for you: https://vinceguerra.substack.com/p/hang-on-ive-got-a-book-on-that

Luke Chapter 1 - December 1st

Two years I recorded the Book of Luke -one chapter for the first 25 days of December ❄️ These recordings were done in the late hours after the family went to Sleepland so my voice is low and quiet at times 🤫 It's completely unedited so you might also note the times I mumbled over challenging pronunciations (🤭) or the times I was a bit stuffy (🤒). Life barely slows down for us moms so we have to take those still, quiet hours and make something of it. Here's my effort. God bless you as you listen or read along 🕊

A year ago, I was miserably sick. From late November to April, I couldn’t breathe. No matter what home remedy or scrip, “it” would not move. As a result, I couldn’t much work, either. The first verse of Psalm 23 became crucial. We’re told to pull on the promises of God. I wrapped my spirit around “The Lord is my Shepherd and I SHALL NOT WANT.”, dug in my heels and pulled HARD. Any time I was tempted to drop into worry or fear, I would declare “I shall not want! Thank You, Abba Father!” The Lord honored me using His language instead of fretting. Still do it, too. The Lord has been faithful. I have not been in want for anything. He has addressed all my needs. Consider what you’re saying or praying. Don’t beg. Find out what promise addresses your situation and pray that, with language of confidence that tells Yaweh you take Him at His Word. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Some friendly Thanksgiving reminders because I need them, and maybe you do, too: You don’t have to do it all. It doesn’t have to be perfect. You can’t please everyone, and it’s not your job to, anyway. Trying to impress people is a poor substitute for loving them, and a pretty certain indicator of insecurity. (Ouch. I’m sorry and you’re welcome.) Let’s serve others tonight and tomorrow instead of striving to impress them. And let’s honor ourselves by being content with what we can do, satisfied with our own efforts, and inspired to learn more/do better next time. A mistake can be growth, and failure is learning. In all the things we’re thankful for, we can be thankful for the process, too.
