Happy Mother’s Day. 🤍 When you read this, I hope you’ll go easy on yourself. For many, many years, I dreaded and hated Mother’s Day. The last several years have been better. 🙌🏻 Momming is hard, and not being a mom when you want to be is hard. There are so many stages of grief in motherhood — and joy, too — and this is a day we honor ourselves and each other for all the sacrifices and victories and longings. We don’t compete in grief; everyone has plenty and no one would be willing to take the griefs of others if they could truly see them. We honor the heart of a mother, including the heart that longs to be a mother, or to have a mother. The heart that longs to nurture and sacrifice is beautiful, and so is the heart that longs to be nurtured and loved unconditionally. We hold this day with open hands and light expectations, and determine to walk it out with love and grace — to ourselves, our family, and all the women around us.

Well, Mother's Day Weekend has officially kicked off for me (technically, it unofficially kicked off on Wednesday after the kids bounced obliviously on my last nerve). What does this mean? Oh, all kinds of whatever I want! *rubs hands mischievously* Ice cream for dinner?! Yes, please! PJs all day all long? Pfft, um, yeah. What about dishes, laundry, chores? Let them eat cake! Er, something like that. I'm feeling kinda of quirky right now. I'm sure I will feel kinda sentimental later. But, for now? For now, I hope you -all of you- find something to do this weekend that makes your heart smile.

The Holy Spirit has been clear giving instructions as I read Psalm 91 out loud. Stand here. Sit here. Go there. Pray this. And this. And this. Stop. Be still. Praise. Pray for this. Then this. This past week I was lead to go to each child’s room, read it out loud then pray. At first I thought I was to do this alone. However, I was prompted to invite each child to be with me in their room so we could read Psalm 91 and pray together. Wow! This moment with each child was sweet and tender, and passionate and heartening. What an incredible blessing it continues to be for me to see the Holy Spirit move. This week, as I read Psalm 91, I want to pray for you. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you one word to share with me. I will pray for this over you. God bless you! 🩵
