I was allowed to enter the consulate, and after frisking, we were all asked to stand in line. At the other end of the line, people who were exiting were asked to approach the interview counter. There were 4-5 interview counters. Each counter had only 2 students waiting for the interview, and 1 would be interviewing. The interviewer would be on the other side of the glass frame, and the interview would be conducted over the mic and speakers. Sometimes, you may get distracted by the interviews happening over the next 4 counters due to the speakers be prepared for that. When my turn came, I was sent to Counter No. 16. Unfortunately, I realized I had read about this interviewer, that bald American white guy, and he is tough to deal with. But it was difficult to switch counters. It was my fate that I got the one I wanted to avoid. I had 2 people in front of me, 1 was being interviewed, and the other was waiting for it. I observed he was a bit rude in behavior. He was asking some technical questions to the first guy to gauge how good he is technically for someone planning for MS in AI. He was rejected, then he was asking to the next one about the curriculum of the program and how good her skills will be used in the program after its completion and also she also got rejected.? Me: Then my turn came. Me: Good Morning Officer Officer: No response Me: Merry Christmas Officer Officer: No Response, Hand me over your I20 and Passport. Me: Handed Over through the gap in the glass frame Officer: So which university program are you planning for? Me: I told about my MS in Data Science and Business Analytics Program at my university. Officer: Okay, but I don't think there is any scope in Business Analytics; it's so saturated. Then why did you choose it? Me: Tried to convince, stating, Officer, I already have working experience as an analyst. Doing this masters would help me propel my career. It also has the blend of Data Science, which has great potential in the coming future, etc. Officer: Okay, but sorry. I am unable to approve your Visa. You can try next time. Maybe I was a bit nervous to see people getting rejected in front of me and it seems that affected my performance and confidence in my answer as well. The Consulate will release these anytime before mid May 3. When the slots are released, those will be in bulk. Estimated >70K appointments will be open for student visas for Fall'24 season 4.
