❗️Alphabet Delivers Strong Earnings Beat - Cloud Growth Continues to Accelerate Alphabet (GOOGL) 🇺🇸 delivered another strong quarterly earnings report, beating expectations on both revenue and earnings while highlighting continued strength across its AI ecosystem. The biggest surprise was Google Cloud, where revenue surged an impressive 82% YoY, reinforcing that AI-related infrastructure spending remains exceptionally strong. Shares are currently trading little changed / slightly lower after hours despite the strong report with investors concerns about the 100% rise YoY in CAPEX (just as we expected). Early look: 🟢 EPS: $9.11 🟢 Revenue: $119.80 billion vs. $116.93 billion expected 🟢 Google Cloud Revenue: $24.8 billion (+82% YoY) 🌟 🟡 Search Revenue: +17% YoY (in-line with expectations) 🟡 Capital Expenditures: $44.9 billion (+100% YoY) 🟢 Other Income: +$99 billion, largely driven by gains in Anthropic and SpaceX investments CURRENTLY 🔻2.9% (but initially mixed reaction) The report confirms that Alphabet continues to benefit from the accelerating AI investment cycle. Cloud growth significantly exceeded expectations, while Search remained resilient despite increasing AI competition. The company also continues to aggressively invest in AI infrastructure, doubling capital expenditures (100% YoY) compared to last year. Overall, Alphabet continues to strengthen its position as one of the leading beneficiaries of the global AI revolution and remains a strong long-term investment. The concerns about the CAPEX are exaggerated and a key reason for the massive revenue growth in cloud revenue. ❗️Tesla Misses on Earnings Despite Revenue Beat - Margins Remain Under Pressure Tesla (TSLA) 🇺🇸 reported mixed second-quarter results, missing earnings expectations despite delivering better-than-expected revenue (just as we expected). While revenue continued to grow strongly, profitability deteriorated further as margins declined and free cash flow turned negative. Shares are currently trading roughly 3% lower after hours. Gross margins are a major concern here. Early look: 🔴 EPS: $0.33 adjusted vs. $0.51 expected 🟢 Revenue: $28.24 billion vs. $25.71 billion expected 🟢 Revenue Growth: +26% YoY 🔴 Gross Margin: 16.8% vs. 19.4% expected 🔴 Operating Margin: 1.4% vs. 4.1% last year 🔴 Free Cash Flow: -$1.1 billion 🟢 Capital Expenditures: $5.79 billion (+142% YoY) CURRENTLY 🔻2.8% The weaker earnings were primarily driven by continued pressure on vehicle pricing, declining regulatory credit revenue, and significantly higher spending on AI infrastructure, robotics and autonomous driving. Tesla continues to invest aggressively in Optimus, AI compute, semiconductor manufacturing and its Robotaxi platform, weighing on near-term profitability. Overall, this was a mixed report. Revenue growth remains strong, but investors continue to focus on declining margins and the negative free cash flow. While Tesla's long-term AI and robotics strategy remains highly ambitious, the financial results suggest that the transition toward becoming an AI and robotics company continues to come at the expense of near-term earnings.
