IIt takes a special kind of arrogant hubris to lecture Canadians about what Canada “needs” as a foreigner. To take the opportunity this country gave you and recast it as a sob story, or worse, portray yourself as a “gift to Canada”is an extraordinary display of ingratitude. We have allowed people to position themselves within our institutions, including Parliament, and influence the very rules that govern our country, sometimes in ways that further exploit systems from which they have already benefited. The Simon Fraser University from Canada has been crowned 2026 World Pipe Band Champions. 211 bands from around the world competed at the event over the weekend where thousands of talented performers travelled to Glasgow Green , Scotland representing 14 countries. It's the first time since 2010 that a band from outside the UK has won the World Championship.
