| 2 | We have more technology, more monitoring, more specialists and more interventions surrounding birth than perhaps ever before.
And yet, look at where we are.
In the United States, 32.4% of births end in Cesarean.
More than 1 in 3 singleton births are now induced, with induction rising from 24.9% in 2016 to 34.5% in 2024.
And we continue to hear from women every day who walk away from birth saying some version of:
“I didn’t know I could say no.”
“I didn’t understand what they were offering me.”
“I didn’t know there were other options.”
“I wish I had known.”
This is why I believe so deeply in birth education. Its not about the best doctor or doula, its about education.
An empowered birth begins with returning the authority back to the woman herself.
A woman who: understands her physiology.
- understands informed consent.
-knows how to ask questions.
-understands what is happening in her body.
-has prepared physically for birth.
-has prepared her nervous system.
-understands interventions before she is being asked to make decisions about them.
And whose husband or partner understands that he has a vital role in protecting and supporting the ecosystem of birth.
And interestingly, research is beginning to quantify what many of us who have taught childbirth education for years have witnessed firsthand.
A 2025 systematic review and meta analysis found that antenatal education was associated with greater childbirth self efficacy, less fear of childbirth, a 10% higher relative likelihood of vaginal birth and a 20% lower relative risk of Cesarean birth.
Education matters.
I have personally taught the Uncovering Birth Method to hundreds of couples since 2018.
Again and again, I have watched couples enter the classroom afraid, unsure and overwhelmed by everything they have been told about birth...
and leave with an entirely different relationship to it.
I taught them how to understand birth deeply enough to navigate it for themselves.
And now, I’m teaching other women how to do the same.

| 6 |  I've been covering this topic for over a decade and after a while i burnt out on it. I wanted to focus on other things, however in some ways its becoming more and more widely accepted by the conventional medical model because it doesnt take away from their bottom line- it adds to it! So although I dont want to give this air time, it's going to get addressed and hopefully you'll share, react and take some action. I came across a few posts recently where a woman who identifies as a man was shaming her baby for calling her "mama". Although shes taken hormones so she can grow a beard, removed her breasts, and got a penile implant the baby still senses what is biologically true which is that she was born from a woman- a "mama"! Babies are not born with socio-political ideologies imposed by our adult egos. They are born with biological truths, they gravitate toward what is safe, toward what preserves life and their surival... and toward connection. This is why I am so passionate about birth education. Uncovering Birth is one of the only instiutions in the birth world that aims to preserve the mother-baby dyad through biological truths, not personal preferences. We dont say "chest-feeding", we say "breastfeeding". We are interseted in preserving the sanctity of the male and the sanctity of the female. | 14 |  +3This week I had the amazing experience of dining at the country house of Chef Donatella Temellini, a woman who has earned the respect of chefs, diners, and critics from around the world, yet is little-known, and has never appeared on tv, or accepted an award.
In fact, the legend states that she actually deferred her Michelin star when it was awarded due to the fact that the stress of maintaining it would decrease her employee’s quality of life. She is considered a “slow food pioneer”.
I learned about Donatella from Jared Pickard, the founder of Be Here Farm + Nature. Once a year he leads a group of wellness and nature enthusiasts on a weeklong adventure through Umbria, and their half-day visit to Chef Donatella’s country house is one of the highlights.
Unlike myself, who simply enjoyed a meal at her home (one of the best I have ever had), Jared’s group spends the entire day together with Chef, foraging for wild truffles, making pasta by hand, and cooking over the open fire.
