Think of it as a version of a crypto asset made compatible with another blockchain environment.
For example:
🔸 WBTC lets Bitcoin liquidity be used in DeFi

The important part: a wrapped token is not the original asset. 1 WBTC may track 1 BTC, but technically they are different assets.
