So how do you perform Kegels?
Next time you are urinating, stop mid stream. Those muscles you are tightening are the pelvic floor muscles. (Only use this to actually find the muscles you are trying to work and form a mind muscle connection, stopping mid stream when urinating can cause bladder infection.)
Now you've located the muscles you are trying to contract. You can do Kegels in any position, but most would recommend you try first laying down. Focus on tightening the pelvic muscles you just located, try three sets of 10 reps every single day. Just like building and strengthening any muscle, you can work up. Perhaps the next week trying longer holds or just adding more repetitions.
Kegels and the benefits of training the pelvic floor muscles
As men begin to age, the pelvic floor muscles slowly start to weaken, which can lead to poor sexual performance, and urinary stress incontinence and many other issues. In other words though, if you are a male that has problems with "finishing early" perhaps Kegel exercises can help you. Studies have found that strengthening the pelvic floor muscles can improve sexual function, such as erections, orgasms and ejaculations. Women should also be doing Kegels as well, as it can help with a lot of issues that can arise from weak pelvic floor muscles, prolapse, leakage, etc.
"Several studies compared the effectiveness of supervised Kegel exercises with the unsupervised group. The group undergoing supervised Kegel exercises showed better outcomes of pelvic floor function, including improvement of quality of life, decreasing urine leakage, and higher satisfaction rate"
