The Innovation of Celebrating the Prophet’s Birthday Dr. ‘Abdul-‘Azīz ibn Rayyis ar-Rayyis, may Allāh preserve him

Shaykh Daghash al-‘Ajami, [may Allāh preserve him], said: “By Allāh, certainly, we love the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ more than we love our fathers, our mothers, our children, and even our own selves. We strive to live by his guidance, we adhere to his Sunnah, and we spread his noble biography. Though harm and injury may come to us from the people because of this, his obedience and his love transform every hardship into sweetness. Yet, despite our immense love for him, we do not commemorate the so-called Mawlid an-Nabawi (the Prophet’s birthday). Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymīn, may Allāh have mercy on him, said: “Upon you, O’ my brother, is to call upon Allāh, the Almighty and Majestic, in all of your affairs, those that are general and those that are specific, those that are difficult and those that are easy. Even if there were nothing in supplication except that it is an act of worship of Allāh, the Glorified and Exalted, that alone would be sufficient reason for a person to be diligent in it.
