Final-year NUS Medicine student Bryant Lim headed to Chiang Mai, Thailand, to learn about the diverse healthcare systems and challenges that healthcare workers face in Southeast Asia. 💪 However, what he learned and experienced there exceeded his expectations; not only did he gain confidence in carrying out his medical duties, he also picked up several invaluable life skills.

Eager to deepen her geographical and social knowledge of Southeast Asia, Nafla Binte Mohamed Yousuf leapt at the chance to join NUS Geographical Society's overseas field trip to Vietnam.
For Nafla, the highlight of the trip was swimming in the Dark Cave at Phong Nha to study Karst formations. 🌊
It turned out to be an unforgettable experience for the final-year NUS Geography student, who had read about but not seen such cave formations before.

🥾🎒Off the beaten path: 19 students from NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS College of Design and Engineering, and NUS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences embarked on a Study Trip for Engagement and EnRichment (STEER) programme to India, where they visited local communities in Alappuzha, Kolkata & Darjeeling, to learn about public health issues on the ground, the effects of climate change, and the livelihood challenges faced by the people there.

TF- NUS LEaRN 2023 is in full swing in Indonesia! Over 2 weeks, 64 student participants from various universities in Southeast Asia attended workshops, fieldtrips, and presentations on leadership and sustainability at Airlangga University and the University of Technology Sumbawa.
TF- NUS LEaRN is NUS Global's signature regional youth leadership programme. Funded by Temasek Foundation, it nurtures the next generation of ASEAN leaders by providing opportunities for cultural exchange, networking, community engagement and leadership development. The second phase of this year's programme will continue in July in Singapore.

After witnessing how easily infectious diseases such as COVID-19 spread across borders, final-year NUS Medicine student Sim Tao Ming decided to head to Southeast Asia to better understand the pressing healthcare needs in the region, and gain a global perspective of the healthcare industry.

For medical students, working at a hospital is a valuable way of gaining practical experience. Vanessa Tan was also keen to learn from fellow medical students in Thailand when she embarked on a short-term programme in Chiang Mai as a 4th year NUS Medicine student. The experience turned out to be so much more meaningful and valuable than she could have hoped!
