a technically proficient goalkeeper, a modern striker, a midfielder that is proficient in build up. in one window, i believe we can challenge for every single competition we are in

this is us at the start of ten hag's project. imagine where we will be when ten hag fully shapes the squad and the team to his liking

Ten Hag: "I'm here for #mufc and I want to win." [BT Sport]

Ten Hag: “We have to go forward, with Tyrell Malacia he has to push forward, and Luke Shaw can come in… he is capable of it.” [BT Sport]

Ten Hag: “We will press them [Barcelona] high if possible. When we have the ball, we have to let them [#mufc players] run – we have players in our team who are able to play [like that], so we have to let them play.” [BT Sport]

Ten Hag on Casemiro: “He has a really strong effect on our game. Everyone is more confident when he is on the pitch.” [BT Sport]

#MUFC XI v #Barca: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Shaw, Malacia, Casemiro, Fred, Sancho, Fernandes (c), Rashford, Weghorst

United are 5 points behind both Arsenal and Manchester City. Arsenal has a game in hand on both teams

Rival Watch: Arsenal have just dropped 3 points in the league after their 3-1 loss to Manchester City.

Luke Shaw: "We joke he [Casemiro] likes to give the ball away so he can win it back. I'm very happy to have him back tomorrow night because he's been a big miss for us."

Luke Shaw on Casemiro: "I think it's obvious to see how important he is to the team. For us as defenders, it gives us a feeling of security. He loves to win the ball back and tackle."

Ten Hag: "I think what is true, the Premier League is high, intense football, but I also think La Liga is a strong league. It's also high, intense, so I don't think it will be a big difference between the two teams."

Ten Hag: "It's clear when you see the stats of Barcelona, it's impressive. They defend well but I think their biggest skill is they have so much possession. To quote Johan Cruyff 'When you have the ball, the opponent cannot score'."

Ten Hag on Frenkie de Jong: "Frenkie is an incredible player and for every club in the whole world he will strengthen the squad because he has a unique quality. If you can get him in the squad your team will be stronger."

Ten Hag: "I think it's exciting to face each other tomorrow night because it will help both clubs. With such tests, you get better."

Ten Hag on #mufc and Barcelona being in the Europa League: "I think both clubs have the ambition to be in the Champions League and to have an impact in it. To make semi-finals and win, even, but the reality is, we're in the Europa League, which shows both clubs needed a reset."

Luke Shaw: "The manager has been really good, he's shown a lot of trust in me and I want to repay that with my performances."

Luke Shaw: "I think not just myself but the team in the first two games was nowhere near where we should be. We've learned from that and grown as a team and I think it's showing in our performances."

Ten Hag: "I think Barça is also a difficult club [to manage] but I think they are playing their best football for several years — you see Cruyff's influence here."

Luke Shaw asked if he will play centre-back: "To be honest, I'm not sure yet, we will have to wait until the teams are named."
