The Baloch Liberation Army (Jeeyand) has issued a detailed statement claiming responsibility for a fidayee (suicide) attack on a military shuttle train near Chaman Phatak in Quetta on the morning of May 24, 2026. The attack was allegedly carried out by the group’s Majeed Brigade in coordination with its intelligence wing, ZIRAB.
Claimed casualties:
· 82 military personnel killed · 121 injured · The train reportedly carried 336 personnel from multiple units, including the 4 Frontier Force Regiment, 10 Baloch Regiment, 25 Baloch Regiment, EME Centre, Infantry School, 25 Cavalry, 2 Punjab Regiment, 80 Field Artillery, 50 Signals, 63 Medium Artillery Regiment, and 54 Medium Artillery Regiment. The BLA identified the attacker as Commander Bilal Shahwani (alias Saeen), a 25‑year‑old from Quetta, who was killed in the operation. The group claimed that the train was a dedicated military shuttle operating from within the high‑security Quetta Cantonment area, and that the attack was designed to avoid civilian casualties by being carried out on a Sunday morning. The BLA accused Pakistani authorities of misrepresenting military casualties as civilian deaths. According to the statement, the BLA had previously attacked a military train at Shal railway station on November 9, 2024. Following that, the Pakistani military changed its protocol, moving military personnel within the cantonment’s secure perimeter and using a separate shuttle train attached to the Jaffer Express just before departure. The BLA claimed that its intelligence wing conducted extensive reconnaissance and that the operation was timed with precision. The group also alleged that the military had stationed Quick Response Forces and built high walls along the track to secure the route. The BLA reiterated that it does not target civilians and described the attack as a legitimate act against occupying forces. It paid tribute to the attacker and vowed to continue operations until “complete independence of Balochistan.” Note: This post is based on a claim released by the Baloch Liberation Army.
