The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for an attack on Afzal Gujjar in the Shakar Dara area of Matta Tehsil, Swat district. According to the group, the attack was an ambush in which a bulletproof vehicle was targeted with explosives, and two other vehicles were also destroyed.
The TTP alleged that Afzal Gujjar was involved in looting, extortion, and the killing of several TTP members, and stated that he had been warned multiple times. The group claimed that Afzal Gujjar was injured in the attack, while three of his companions, including a security guard, were killed. The TTP described Afzal Gujjar as an associate of security agencies, Military Intelligence (MI), and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), allegedly acting against the group and the local population since 2009.
The organization also warned other individuals continuing to cooperate with security agencies against TTP that they may face similar consequences.
