most media outlets avoided directly highlighting military involvement in their headlines. This reflects either self-censorship or the effect of external pressure. Even the state news agency BSS followed the same cautious approach.

Bangladesh has long witnessed controversy surrounding the allocation of media ownership and registration licenses, particularly during the previous government’s tenure. The Awami League administration faced widespread accusations of favoritism and irregularities in granting approvals, with the registration process for online news portals becoming the most glaring example of arbitrary decision making. Disappointingly, the current interim government and its Ministry of Information appear to be following the very same pattern, continuing to issue online portal approvals in the exact style of their predecessors without ensuring transparency, accountability, or fair competition.
Media organizations in Bangladesh often keep their employees personal social media activities under surveillance. They regularly impose restrictions on what can or cannot be posted. Political opinions or criticism of influential individuals and institutions are frequently discouraged or outright banned. As a result, journalists become increasingly cautious about expressing themselves, sometimes deleting posts voluntarily or choosing not to write anything at all. This situation not only limits journalists individual freedoms but also narrows the overall space for free expression in a democratic society.
