Call me Geniya/Gen I guess? (They/She/He with a preference for They) You might not like everything I say & I don't care. I draw stuff, for fandoms & OCs. Whatever.... I put TWs when they're needed. Unknown:https://t.me/harfmanrobot?start=1392757513

A little rant about characters in relationship and their previous relationships in stories. (You can skip it of course)
Alright? Ok
I mean to each their own. I'm personally not a fan of when stories want to discuss a previous relationship and the character is like: "no I didn't really love them, I love you tho, you're different" It's because the character is special, it's a fantasy, feeling special, and I get that. No shade on anyone who enjoys them. But personally I like it when characters have experienced a relationship before and want it again. They're afraid of losing it because they had something good before and it ended for whatever reason. It's ok and fine if the character goes: "oh I loved them before and we were happy, it ended because of XYZ." And now they're moving on. They might not like or like their previous partner for whatever reason now, but not every character needs to pretend that their now partner is their "one & true love" and any previous relationship is just meaningless. (This is kinda similar to the soulmate genre but I think soulmate trope has evolved through years, now we have platonic soulmates or characters who don't meet their soulmates and have relationship with other characters. And when it's not those, usually previous relationships are non existent in soulmate trope, so while similar it's not exactly the same.) (Again I want to point out that I have nothing against people enjoying this in fiction. I'm not someone who judges people taste in fiction, kinktomato. It's just not my cup of coffee.) (But there are people who have similar mindsets irl in relationships, now that's real life and it's kinda. Hmmm. Not a great way of thinking for real relationships.)
