GitHub just dropped an update to actions/checkout that blocks those nasty pwn request attacks exploiting the pullrequesttarget workflow trigger, effectively preventing malicious code from running with full workflow privileges - this means no more easy wins for attackers trying to hijack workflows, at least not via this vector, starting June 18, 2026. The update is all about tightening up software supply chain security, and it's about time.
