O Believer, Beware of Sin in These Blessed Nights! The Nights of Mercy or Deprivation — Which One Will You Be?
Shaykh Sulayman Ar-Ruhayli
The Virtues of Laylat al-Qadr: Greater Than Eighty-Three Years of Worship — A Night When Angels Descend and the Earth Is Filled with Goodness and Peace!
Shaykh Sulayman Ar-Ruhayli
Shaykh Sulayman Ar-Ruhayli, may Allah preserve him, said:
Tonight is the night of the twenty-third, and it is among the nights of the ten most hoped for to be Laylat al-Qadr, without asserting it decisively.
For ʿAbdullāh ibn Unays al-Juhanī, may Allah be pleased with him, said: “O Messenger of Allah, I stay in my desert dwelling and I lead them in prayer, so command me with a night in this month that I should come down to the mosque — meaning the mosque of the Prophet ﷺ — so that I may pray in it.” So he said: “Come down on the night of the twenty-third.” So he used to do that.
And the Salaf used to increase their concern for the night of the twenty-third. Our mother ʿĀʾishah, may Allah be pleased with her, used to awaken her family on this night, and Ibn ʿAbbās, may Allah be pleased with them both, used to sprinkle water upon his family on this night.
So my advice to myself and to the believing men and the believing women is that they should be keen upon increasing in striving in this night.

Shaykh Sulayman Al-Ruhayli, may Allah preserve him, said:
“I draw the attention of my brothers and my sisters to the fact that striving throughout all of the last ten nights contains tremendous virtues and noble stations.
For it is the Sunnah, as the Prophet ﷺ used to strive in all of the ten nights. And whoever stands throughout all of the ten nights, striving diligently, increasing in the remembrance of Allah and in the recitation of the Qur’an, has indeed attained Laylat al-Qadr, whether he knew it or did not know it.
And striving in the ten nights contains an increase in good deeds and a multiplication of reward even if that was not on Laylat al-Qadr.
So this is the advice of a loving and sincere adviser: do not deprive yourselves of these virtues, and strive and exert yourselves in the remainder of your month so that perhaps you may succeed.”

What Is This Apathy? This Heedlessness? How Can Our Hearts Remain Unmoved? – The Last Ten Nights: A Lifetime Opportunity!
Shaykh Sulayman Ar-Ruhayli
Shaykh Sulaymān al-Ruḥaylī, may Allah preserve him, said:
My brother and my sister:
Whoever is able to perform iʿtikāf iʿtikāf (secluding oneself in the mosque for worship) for the last ten nights entirely, then that is the Sunnah, for the Prophet ﷺ performed iʿtikāf until he died, and his wives performed iʿtikāf with him and after him. And whoever it is made easy for him to perform iʿtikāf for one night or more, then that is good.
And whoever is not able to perform iʿtikāf, then let him resemble the one performing iʿtikāf as much as he is able by cutting off attachments with the creation and devoting himself to the worship of the Creator, and let him reduce mixing with people as much as possible, and let him beware of the thief of precious times — the mobile phone with all that is in it.

How to Seek Laylat al-Qadr: Two Great Keys Every Believer Must Know — If You Do This, You Will Not Miss Its Reward!
Shaykh Sulayman Ar-Ruhayli
Shaykh Sulayman Ar-Ruhayli, may Allah preserve him, said:
شهر رمضان يعظم فيه شأن الذكر، وقد قرر العلماء أن أعظم الناس في الصوم فضلاً أكثرهم لله ذكراً.
• In the month of Ramadan, the status of dhikr (remembrance of Allah) is magnified, and the scholars have established that the most virtuous among those who fast are the ones who engage in the most remembrance of Allah.
• And I advise myself and my brothers with the following adhkar:
قال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: “من قال في يوم مئتي مرة: لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له، له الملك، وله الحمد، وهو على كل شيء قدير؛ لم يسبقه أحد كان قبله، ولم يدركه أحد كان بعده، إلا بأفضل من عمله.”
• The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever says in a day two hundred times: La ilaha illa Allah, wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahu al-mulk, wa lahu al-hamd, wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in qadir (There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, alone, without partner. To Him belongs the dominion and all praise, and He is over all things competent), no one before him will surpass him, and no one after him will reach him except one who has done more than him.”
• And he ﷺ said: “Whoever says La ilaha illa Allah, wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahu al-mulk, wa lahu al-hamd, wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in qadir (There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, alone, without partner. To Him belongs the dominion and all praise, and He is over all things competent) one hundred times in a day, it will be equivalent to freeing ten slaves, one hundred good deeds will be written for him, one hundred bad deeds will be erased from him, and it will be a protection for him from Satan on that day until the evening. And no one will bring anything better than what he has brought, except one who has done more than this. And whoever says Subhan Allah wa bihamdih (Glory be to Allah and all praise is due to Him) one hundred times in a day, his sins will be erased, even if they were like the foam of the sea.”

In the midst of the ongoing events, be certain that Allah possesses the far-reaching wisdom, and be at ease and a source of reassurance to others, and be a fortified shield against rumours and false reports — do not accept them, do not be a source of them, and do not spread them — and have trust in your leaders and the official sources of the state, and adhere to the instructions of the state, and before that and after it, be reliant upon Allah.

Do Not Let Events Distract You from Your Worship!
Shaykh Sulayman Ar-Ruhayli — may Allah preserve him — said:
Do not let events distract you from your worship, and beware lest you become heedless of your portion of the Qur’an or the adhkār (remembrances of Allah) by following the news, and know that in times of trials and heedlessness the rewards of righteous deeds are magnified. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Worship during al-harj (killing and widespread turmoil) is like migration to me.” So if the reward of migration from Makkah to al-Madīnah has passed you by, then do not let the reward of worship at the time of trials, heedlessness, and the mixing and confusion of matters pass you by.
