Jim Goad will be greatly missed by many including us! I knew that he had been ill for some time but not to what extent or how serious it was. We had the pleasure of having Jim on the show numerous times over the years, closer to 10 if you count the many "multi-guest" appearances for "holyday" streams that he was kind enough to join us for. So it feels like we got to know him pretty well.
We always had a great time with Mr Goad. He was raw, unapologetic, witty, dark & funny. He was a great author. "The Redneck Manifesto" and "The New Church Ladies" are classics.
We will miss you Jim. See you in Valhalla! The fight continues.

I came to his writing late, around 2016, but it still left a lasting mark on me. The radical right desperately needs voices like his: sharp, fearless, darkly funny, and impossible to tame. There are far too few of them.

Hagalaz/Hægl is the ninth rune in the Elder Futhark and Anglo Saxon Futhorc. Its Younger Futhark descendant, Hagall, closely resembles the donderbezem (thunder broom), a stave used to protect homes from lightning strikes in northern Germany and the Netherlands.
The Icelandic Rune Poem calls it “sickness of serpents”; with serpents, including Jörmungandr, appearing as embodiments of chaos, it makes sense that Hagall would be a protective rune, even the rune of Thor Himself.
The rune itself somewhat resembles a simple, stylized bi-polar thunderbolt, or vajra. It’s also similar to the Slavic Perunika symbol, carved on roof beams in Eastern Europe to protect against lightning strikes.
