Theatre fellows complete their journey at GITIS✨ For six inspiring weeks, our InteRussia theatre fellows — actors from Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Mauritania, South Africa, Tunisia, India, and China — immersed themselves in the creative world of Russian theatre. Under the guidance of GITIS professors, they refined their skills in voice, movement, and stage performance, embracing the discipline and artistry that define the Russian acting tradition. «That’s where beauty leads you. Right into the whirlpool!» 🎭 Once there was a young woman named Katerina. She dreamed of love, of freedom, of skies without thunder. But her small Volga town had its own rules — strict and merciless. And when her heart chose truth over fear, the storm began. For six weeks, our InteRussia fellows — actors from Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Mauritania, South Africa, Tunisia, India, and China — searched for Katerina within themselves. Through voice and silence, movement and stillness, emotion and light. 🏡 And finally, they brought The Thunderstorm to life — not on stage, but in a 19th-century mansion. Each fragment of Ostrovsky’s play unfolded in a different corner. The audience moved from one scene to another, becoming part of the story — guided by actors speaking in English, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, and Hindi. An immersive performance. A confession in many tongues. A story about beauty, freedom, and the choices that pull us — right into the whirlpool.

STEM Fellows Complete Their Journey at Skoltech 🧠 This September, the InteRussia STEM fellowship concluded at the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology, bringing together young professionals from 12 countries — Bahrain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Vietnam, India, China, Mali, Nigeria, Pakistan, Serbia, Türkiye, and South Africa. From Ideas to Prototypes through a Month of Immersive Learning: 🤔 At the heart of the program was Skoltech’s Innovation Workshop — an intensive bootcamp where participants worked in teams, developed technological solutions, and presented their projects before an expert jury. Several winning teams — three in total — featured our InteRussia fellows among their members! 🤔 The fellows visited VK’s headquarters, Moscow State Technological University STANKIN, and Astra Group, one of Russia’s leading software developers. 🤔 Outside the labs, they explored Russia’s cultural heritage — from a sightseeing tour of Moscow and a visit to the National Center “Russia” to discovering how tradition and innovation coexist in the country’s modern life. The journey ended, but the ideas, friendships, and shared passion for innovation will keep moving forward.

The participants were welcomed by: 🔴 Sergey Orlov, Deputy Executive Director at the Gorchakov Fund 🔴 Vasily Pushkov, Director of International Cooperation at Sputnik International News Agency and Radio Among the fellows are representatives of leading outlets from across the region: Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru. Can you imagine turning an idea into reality in just one month? ⭕️ For a whole month now, our STEM fellows have been participating in the unique intensive course called the “Innovation Workshop”. What is it?

It is an intensive month-long bootcamp course that unites the entire Skoltech master’s cohort with invited mentors. It is a project of fantastic scale: over 490 students selected from 15000 applicants get the chance to study and work in an innovative environment. They are joined by more than 50 world-renowned experts — mentors and lecturers — as well as over 100 Skoltech staff and faculty members. This is already the 12th edition of Skoltech’s workshop!

What does it mean? 🐚 Students engage in practical training, experiencing the full cycle of technological innovation — from idea to product or prototype 🐚 All projects are carried out in interdisciplinary teams 🐚 The teams recreate the spirit and real experience of complex innovative projects And today marks the closing of the project — after which the selection of the 10 best projects will begin. ⭕️ Who will make it to the Top 10 projects at Skoltech? Every country has its launchpads for engineers 🔗 In Russia, STANKIN is one of them — and our fellows explored what makes it a training ground for future industry leaders. 🔗A legacy built on machines

Founded in 1930 to train engineers for the Soviet machine-tool industry, STANKIN was created at a time when the country urgently needed specialists. The format was tough: four days of factory work, two days of lectures lasting up to 12 hours. Only two years later, the first engineers graduated — just 29 of them.

Today, it’s one of only nine system-forming universities in Russia — institutions recognized for their strategic importance to the country’s economy and technological future. More than 5,000 students study here now, many of them working directly with real-world industry partners. During the visit, the fellows explored the university’s Engineering Center for Digital Technologies in Mechanical Engineering. From smart tools to high-precision systems, they saw how Russia trains engineers not just for today’s tasks, but for the industries of tomorrow.

💻 What’s Russia’s go-to social network? Spoiler: it’s not the one you’re used to This week, our STEM fellows stepped inside the Moscow HQ of VK — Russia’s digital powerhouse. So, what is VK?

Originally known for its iconic social network VKontakte (often called "the Russian Facebook"), VK has grown into a powerful digital ecosystem. Today, the company manages over 200 products — from social media and messengers to music and video platforms, e-learning services, online games, and business tools. More than 100 million users connect with VK services every month — to chat, study, work, stream, and stay informed. Think of it as Russia’s all-in-one digital universe.

During the visit, our fellows toured VK’s modern office space — open, creative, and built for collaboration (yes, tthere’s even a juicer!). They also joined a session on how VK’s ecosystem works behind the scenes: how platforms integrate, how data flows, and how user experience is shaped. Technology doesn’t look the same everywhere — and discovering how it works in different countries is what makes fellowships like InteRussia so valuable.

Bridging Continents: Latin American Fellows Explore Russia’s Energy⭕️ This summer, our Latin American fellows in energy wrapped up a journey that took them from power grids and oil terminals to opera houses and imperial gardens, discovering the interplay between modern infrastructure and centuries of cultural heritage. Highlights from their adventure: ⭕️They discovered how Russia keeps its national energy system stable and future-ready, visiting the JSC System Operator of the Unified Energy System, Medvedevskaya 110 kV Digital Substation and the Intelligent Digital Network Lab of Rosseti. ⭕️At the Unified Dispatch Center of Moscow Metro, a charging station for electric buses, and St. Petersburg's tram and trolleybus depot, the fellows saw how transport and energy infrastructures interconnect to keep cities moving. ⭕️Their journey also took them through Transneft, KINEF’s refinery, and Gazprom Neft’s Gladkoye fuel terminal — tracing energy’s path from raw resources to refined products. ⭕️Beyond labs and control rooms, the group explored Russian history: from Moscow’s VDNH and the Pushkin Museum to the Hermitage, Peterhof, and Tsarskoye Selo in St. Petersburg. Energy, innovation, culture — this summer had it all. ASEAN young professionals, now it’s your turn: come and write the next chapter of your adventure in Russia.⭕️
