Kya khoob bartarri hai jiski bunyaad ek aurat ki kokh par ho, jiski ibtida ek aurat ki aaghosh se ho, jiski pehli taleem ek aurat ki zubaan se ho, aur jiski nasl ka silsila bhi aurat se hi wabasta ho magar jiski zubaan par aurat ke liye tahqeer ho. Jis haath ne tujhe sambhala, usi haath ko tu kamzor samjhe; jis aaghosh ne tujhe panaah di, usi ko tu mahdoood kare; jis aurat ne tujhe duniya se waaqif kiya, usi ki duniya tu mahdoood karne chale phir bhi kehta hai: “Main bartar hoon.” Bartar? Kis baat mein? Is mein ke jis aurat ke wajood ka qarzdaar hai, usi ke wajood ko haqeer samajhta hai? Yeh bartarri nahi yeh jahalat ka ghuroor hai. Yeh quwwat nahi yeh virasat mein mili hui soch ka bojh hai. Aur agar apne wajood ki bunyaad ko hi haqeer samajhna tumhari bartarri hai to phir yeh munaafiqat hai !!!

Perhaps we misunderstand our mothers most when we forget that they were women before they became mothers.
