Project Ihya is pleased to announce the release of the first response in our series addressing some of the most common objections to the Hadith tradition, using Joshua Little's list of 21 objections as its framework. Objection One: Historical Parallels and the Reliability of Hadith takes up Little's opening argument, namely that since false attribution occurred in other religious traditions, the Hadith tradition should be presumed unreliable from the outset. The response examines the reasoning behind this appeal to prior probability, presents the verification practices of the earliest generations of Muslims in detail, and assesses which explanation the historical evidence better supports. Readers will find the epistemological groundwork for this discussion in the Introduction, which is now available in both English and Arabic. This project is the combined effort of the Project Ihya Research Team, which is composed of traditionally trained scholars and academic researchers in the Islamic sciences, particularly Hadith, together with modern academics and external reviewers. It seeks to present rigorous, accessible, and academically robust responses that engage both the classical Islamic tradition and contemporary historical scholarship. Subsequent responses will be released periodically, God willing. Once the series is complete, all of the responses will be revised, expanded with additional notes, and compiled into a single volume, God willing. We ask Allah ﷻ to accept this effort, make it beneficial for the Ummah, and grant us sincerity, correctness, and acceptance. This project is the combined effort of the Project Ihya Research Team which is composed of traditionally trained scholars and academic researchers in the Islamic sciences, particularly Hadith, and modern academics as well as external reviewers. It seeks to present rigorous, accessible, and academically robust responses that engage both the classical Islamic tradition and contemporary historical scholarship. Researchers, students, and serious readers can expect to gain insight into many of the technical dimensions of Hadith studies in a manner that is rarely available in the English language. Throughout this series, complex questions and methodological issues will be examined in depth, supported by detailed examples and accompanied by clear, well-reasoned conclusions. Today, we are releasing the Introduction, which highlights several important epistemological and methodological frameworks that will be relevant throughout the discussions to come. The first response to Joshua Little's objections will be released shortly, God willing, with subsequent responses following periodically. Furthermore, Project Ihya has quietly launched its volunteer network and already on-boarded dedicated volunteers for our research team. We are highly selective when we onboard volunteers in general and knowledge contributors in specific as it requires dedication, commitment, and consistency. We are now announcing applications for knowledge contributers to be part of our research team who are motivated by the work we do and want to be part of a bigger effort to intellectually defend Islam. Our volunteers are of segments: 1. Ulema. These are research capable scholars who know Arabic and have studied classically from any traditional background. Must be extremely proficient in Arabic with strong foundations. 2. Academic researchers. These are people with an academic background with work to show it that understand the academic world as well as are well grounded in Islam or willing to be guided as such. 3. Professionals. These are people with strengths in different areas like media, copywriting, technology, etc etc. We only onboard volunteers for whose expertise we have a need in our projects or we can commission a project based on their unique expertise. We only have the capacity currently to onboard one volunteer a month. We have already onboarded a few gems. Project Ihya aims to be beyond specific people. It aims to be institution that works like a single machine made up of many parts from the ummah all with the same mission.
