Blood clotting mechanism
1. When blood vessels injure: platelets clot, damage cells & clotting agent in blood plasma forms thrombokinase
2. Thrombokinase with the help of Vitamin K converts Phrothrombin (inactive plasma protein) into Thrombin (active plasma protein +acts as enzyme)
3. Thrombin catalyses conversion of soluble protein, fibrinogen into insoluble fibrin
4. Blood clot becomes scab when exposed to air
(Fibrin: fibrous protein that forms network on surface of wound to trap erythrocyte (RBC) & cover wounds to prevent blood loss)
