Most of those “I want to buy your telegram username for X TON” messages in your telegram dms are scammers. Like 99.999% of them. In fact just assume all are scams. Here is how the scam actually works so you don’t fall for it: Step 1: they offer you way more than the username is worth so you think you’ve made generational wealth and your brain switches off. Step 2: they send you to a site that looks exactly like fragment to sell the username, but it’s a fake website. Sometimes they even embed the scam link so at first you might see fragment.com/username, but when you long tap on the link you’ll see the actual scam web app link. Step 3: you connect your wallet and hit confirm on what you think is the sale. That confirm is not a sale. It is a transaction that moves all the funds in your wallet straight to the scammer’s wallet, and the moment you confirm that transaction, your wallet is gone. The username was never the goal. The funds in your wallet were. Real username sales happen on fragment itself (fragment.com) or getgems (getgems.io). You list it for sale or auction, people bid, the username goes to the highest bidder etc. Nobody legit ever needs to slide into your dm and send you a link to connect your wallet somewhere to “finalize” anything. And the pricing fantasy needs to die too. You wouldn’t pay 50 TON for a stranger’s random handle that gives off zero demand, so if people are supposedly lining up to pay 50 TON for yours, you should already know something isn’t right. Your username isn’t even a word in the english dictionary and you think it’s a 3 or 4 figure asset, lmao. If the demand was real and someone actually wanted your username, it would show up as a real offer from the fragment bot (t.me/fragment). So if anyone insists, just tell them to send the offer through fragment. And one last thing. Some of them will try to impersonate the fragment bot. So if you ever want to dabble in the username market, pin the real bot to the top of your chat list. That way you know any offer that isn’t coming directly from that pinned bot is fake. Wake up.
