Putin congratulates Iran’s new president, hopes for closer ties Russian leader Vladimir Putin congratulated Iran’s reformist candidate Masoud Pezeshkian on his victory in a presidential runoff, the Kremlin said on Saturday. “I hope that your tenure as president will contribute to a reinforcement of constructive bilateral cooperation between our friendly peoples,” Putin said in a message to Pezeshkian. Two friends found dead in Osun after alleged fight An unfortunate incident threw residents of Inisa in Odo-Otin local government area of Osun State as two elderly friends were found in their pool of blood after a fight. It was gathered that the two aged friends, Ali Baba, a Ghanaian in his sixties, and Kayode Olete, 52, engaged in a fight late on Thursday in their dwelling house at Okunoye compound in the town. Both men died. It was discovered that they both attacked each other with a cutlass and a machete, as their intestines were already popping out of their stomachs.

FDA finally bans popular soft drink additive due to health concerns Food and beverage makers will no longer be allowed to use Brominated Vegetable Oil, BVO, as an ingredient in their products.  The US Food and Drug Administration has banned BVO due to safety concerns. The ingredient was used to prevent flavouring from separating in citrus drinks. The ban takes effect on August 2nd, 2024, with manufacturers given an additional year to reformulate products and deplete existing inventory.
