It is a tactic rooted in the logic of empire, where the colonizer frames itself as the aggrieved party, using the very bodies of settlers as political tools, or rather, human shields, to deflect any critique of their colonial violence. This sleight of hand not only undermines the resistance of the oppressed but reframes the aggressor as the vulnerable, a classic move in the imperialist playbook to maintain its hegemony over colonized peoples.
