ADVICE TO IMPROVE YOUR WRITING BEYOND 7.5-8.0
Key idea:
Use language that best communicates your ideas. Do not go around peacocking your fancy vocabulary, when simple words work just fine.

The rise in human population causes a major problem: overpopulation. The continued growth of our species may drain Earth's resources and its “carrying capacity” to the point of human extinction. At the same time, in many developed countries birth rates drop and some are below replacement rates and fear a huge population decline. Is then overpopulation a myth?
Overpopulation refers to a population which exceeds its sustainable size within a particular environment or habitat. It describes a situation in which a population in a given ecosystem limit the resources available for survival.
Some argue that since people move to cities for better opportunities, they tend to have fewer children. In fact, the UN recently revised downwards its predictions for population growth. Similarly, the worry about agriculture and food consumption is also a disputed fact: some consider there is plenty of food (more arable land used, better technology, more efficiency, etc.), while others assert that, at this rate, there will be no way to feed all the humans on the planet.
