News: Honourable Prime Minister Lays the Foundation Stone for India's Second Spaceport. The second spaceport of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), which will be dedicated exclusively for Small Satellite Launch Vehicles (SSLVs) developed by the private sector, will come up in about two years at Kulasekarapattinam in Thoothukudi district of Tamil Nadu. At present, ISRO has one space station — the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh — with two launch pads from where the rocket launching operations of PSLV and LMV3 are carried out.

Project SOORYA is a project by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to develop India's most powerful and largest rocket. The rocket, also known as the Next Generation Launch Vehicle (NGLV), is designed to meet India's space program goals, including crewed missions and a space station.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is scheduled to launch the Space Docking Experiment (SPADEX) in December 2024. The mission will demonstrate technologies for India's future space station and human spaceflight programs. The mission involves launching a satellite that will split into two components and then reunite in space.

LUPEX Mission is a collaborative mission between ISRO and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). To explore the moon’s southern polar region, investigating the presence of water and other elements, potentially in the form of surface ice.

The NASA-ISRO SAR (NISAR) Mission will measure Earth’s changing ecosystems, dynamic surfaces, and ice masses providing information about biomass, natural hazards, sea level rise, and groundwater, and will support a host of other applications.

The TRISHNA (Thermal Infra-Red Imaging Satellite for High-resolution Natural Resource Assessment) mission is a collaborative effort between the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and the French Space Agency (CNES). This mission addresses critical water and food security challenges, focusing on the impacts of human-induced climate change and efficient water resource management through evapotranspiration monitoring.

India's first small-scale liquefied natural gas (SSLNG) unit is located at the GAIL (India) Ltd's Vijaipur complex in Madhya Pradesh. Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is natural gas that has been cooled to a liquid state for storage and transportation.

Kerala introduces its first generative AI teacher ‘Iris’. Named Iris, the humanoid was unveiled at KTCT Higher Secondary School in Thiruvananthapuram in collaboration with Makerlabs Edutech Private Limited. According to Makerlabs, Iris was built as part of the Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL), a 2021 NITI Aayog project to boost students' extracurricular activities in schools.

4 key ISRO projects The Union Cabinet approved four space projects for ISRO. 1. the Venus mission which is aimed for a March 2028 launch. This will be India's second mission to a planet, after the Mars Orbiter Mission in 2014. The purpose of the mission will be to study the surface of the planet, its dust and cloud, volcanism, atmosphere, and ionosphere, as well as the interaction of the planet with the sun. 2. The Chandrayaan-4 mission is designed to land on the lunar surface, collect samples, store them in a vacuum container, and bring them back. 3. The Cabinet has also approved the setting up of the Bharatiya Antariksh Station (BAS). The space agency has set a deadline of December 2029 for the completion of all launches and operations of the first module of BAS. 4. Cabinet gave a nod to the building of the Next Generation Launch Vehicle, which will increase Isro's launch capability from the current 10T to the low earth orbit to 30T to the low earth orbit.

The second Arihant-Class submarine ‘INS Arighaat’ was commissioned into the Indian Navy on August 2024 at Visakhapatnam. It has the distinction of having the indigenous systems and equipment. The technological advancements undertaken indigenously on this submarine make it significantly more advanced than its predecessor Arihant. The presence of both INS Arihant and INS Arighaat will enhance India’s capability to deter potential adversaries and safeguard its national interests.
