Prepositional Phrases: A prepositional phrase consists of a preposition, its object (a noun or pronoun), and any modifiers of the object. • Example: The book on the table is mine. ("on the table" is the prepositional phrase; "on" is the preposition, "table" is the object) Common Prepositional Errors: • Preposition Stranding: This occurs when a preposition is left at the end of a clause or sentence. While acceptable in informal speech, it is generally considered grammatically incorrect in formal writing.   Incorrect: Who did you speak to*?   Correct:* To whom did you speak? • Incorrect Preposition Choice: Choosing the wrong preposition can change the meaning of a sentence. Careful attention to context is crucial. • Preposition Combinations: Some prepositions combine to create phrases (e.g., "according to," "in spite of," "because of").
