Ted Cruz once said to my face at the restaurant I was running at the time when his chicken sandwich at lunch was served in 12 minutes (made from scratch by the way, hand breaded to order) : “this took too long, it is very good, but it is so slow here”
The following is a recounting of this entire interaction from the servers story to me to the end of this where he said that:
Ted: “id like to talk to the chef”
Server: “is there something wrong?”
Ted: “i am a senator and I would like to talk to the chef”
(We had 109 on the books for this service btw)
Server: “ok, I will got get him”
Server to me in the kitchen: “chef there’s a customer issue at 31, he wants to talk to you”
Me: “the sandwich? What the fuck is wrong”
Server to me: “nothing says he’s a Senator”
Me: “oh for fucks sake, ok”
(I come out to the table, he wasn’t eating with Heidi btw, but that’s another story)
Me: “ hi guys, what’s going on”
Ted Cruz: “this took too long, it is very good but it is so slow here”
Me: “I’m sorry Senator, I can’t make a chicken cook faster”
Ted Cruz: “well I am just tellin ya it is slow”
Me: “ok I’m going back to attend to the rest of my lunch service, if there’s any more problems I won’t be coming out”
Ted Cruz: ‘well I think you will’
Me: (walks away, proceeds to 86 him from the reservation system, never came back out)
