16 💥The Mystery of "Our Daily Bread!"
"GIVE US THIS DAY (sémeron) OUR DAILY (epioúsios) BREAD"
This very obscure Greek word, Epioúsios occurs only twice in the New Testament and only in the Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:11 and Luke 11:3); "Give us this day our DAILY (epioúsios) bread."
The phrase literally means: “aptly substantive” BREAD THAT FITS (MEETS) THE UNIQUE DEMANDS OF THE APPROACHING DAY. Hello!!!
Oddly, the word epioúsios does not in any way refer to a natural day, as in sunrise to sunset. Origen (a 3rd century Christian theologian) testifies that the word was not in use in ordinary speech, and accordingly seems to have been coined by the Evangelists themselves.
Epioúsios has also been defined by scholars as: Essence, real nature, or substance, property, resources and “to be present” (as in the Shewbread, which is the bread of presence).
“Give us this day our daily bread”. This phrase in the Lord’s Prayer can also be interpreted:
Give us your REAL SUBSTANCE (Your real nature) because of the approaching day!
What we are really asking God for in this prayer is our “meat in due season”
“The eyes of all wait upon thee and you give them their meat in due season” Psalm 145:15
“Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?” Matthew 24:45
“But strong meat belongs to them that are of full age….” Hebrews 5:14
Listen. God is about to CHANGE OUR SPIRITUAL DIET in a very real and powerful way, and that process has already begun! Over the past four years God has been weaning His people from "milk." 17 ✨GET READY FOR *STRONG MEAT IN THE AGE OF MATURITY (*STEREOS-TROPHE)!
There is a maturity that has nothing to do with your spiritual growth as an individual, or the maturity of your character, etc. There is another maturity that speaks of "the time appointed of the Father", this maturity is that of "the fulness of time". It is the AGE, or EPOCH, of maturity. It is the season when the seed that has been sown in the earth, both good and evil, is brought to maturity for it's intended purpose. This is the very season that the whole world is now entering into, and it has very special implications for God's people.
With this in mind we are about to give Hebrews 5:14 another read. I'm not saying that the aforementioned things are the meaning of this verse, however, I can't say that it isn't either. If we consider the universal body of Christ, instead of our own individual lives, then we can see more of God's intention regarding a mature season, as opposed to mature individuals.
Hebrews 5:14 sheds light on who will receive the "strong meat" of the word of God.
"But strong meat belongs to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil." Hebrews 5:14
Could this scripture mean that strong meat belongs to those who will be living in the AGE OF MATURITY, which is THE TIME OF HARVEST?
It could certainly have that meaning. Why is this important?
Because the "world to come" that is spoken of here is the very Kingdom that we seek! Those who partake of the STRONG MEAT OF THIS AGE will be made partakers of "THE POWERS OF THE WORLD TO COME", strengthened by THE DIVINE SUBSTANCE (STEREOS-TROPHE) of Jesus Christ in their spiritual and physical being.
As we diligently SEEK the Kingdom, searching the scriptures and BELIEVING these mysteries, we are STRENGTHENED by the ¹stereos-trophe of the ²musterion, "the strong meat of the mystery!" And then our course is Divinely set to collide with the Kingdom of God!
¹Stereos-trophe: in Hebrews 5:12, the Greek words translated as "solid food" are "stereos-trophe." This Latin word contains the root word for STEROIDS! It means strong or stedfast nourishment. The words "meat" and "solid food" refer to more advanced Christian teachings, as opposed to "milk" or basic Christian teachings.
