Noticed recently that every time I get what I want (like, bigger things) I feel fucking nothing about it. A few moments of joy maybe if I’m lucky, and very soon apathy catches on. Like, not getting it is suffering, but so is getting it. Sounds sad, but at the same time this thought helps me to be more serene about not getting what I want - I’m thinking to myself, well, if I got it I would still feel empty and unsatisfied. At least the agony of an unfulfilled desire is inspiring, unlike the cold indifference I experienced the times I got what I so desperately wanted.
