From the 2005 Sutlej floods in Himachal Pradesh to the 2021 Chamoli disaster and recent floods in Nepal, the Himalayan region is facing increasingly destructive climate- and glacier-linked hazards.
Glacier retreat, expanding glacial lakes, cloudbursts, landslides and unchecked construction are compounding the risks. But experts say early warnings alone aren’t enough—the region needs real-time monitoring, cross-border coordination and development that respects the fragile mountain ecosystem.

China’s dam-building spree is reshaping the Himalayan water landscape.
Before 1949, China had just 22 dams. Today, it has around one lakh, accounting for nearly half of the world’s large dams.
With China sitting upstream of major rivers including the Brahmaputra, Indus and Sutlej, the region’s growing “dam war” raises questions about ecology, water security and the risks for downstream countries.

🚨 Should AI be stopped before it becomes too powerful?
US Senator Bernie Sanders has drafted a bill to ban Artificial Superintelligence, preventing any individual or company from developing or deploying AI systems that surpass human intelligence.
Supporters say it protects jobs and humanity.
Critics argue it could slow innovation and allow other countries to take the lead.

Saudi Arabia has announced the discovery of an estimated 110 million tonnes of ore containing uranium concentrations and rare earth minerals in the Medina region.
The find at the Jabal Sayid project comes as Riyadh pursues domestic uranium extraction and civilian nuclear power under Vision 2030.
The announcement also follows a US-Saudi nuclear deal allowing the kingdom to develop its civilian nuclear programme and potentially enrich uranium domestically.

Extreme warming thousands of kilometres away in the tropics helped Antarctica gain 695 billion tonnes of ice between 2021 and 2023.
A study published in Nature found that unusually warm waters in the western Pacific and eastern Indian Ocean altered atmospheric circulation, sending more moisture towards East Antarctica and triggering heavier snowfall.
The temporary gain, however, does little to change the bigger picture: East Antarctica has been losing around 140.5 billion tonnes of ice every year over the past two decades.

What if mentorship doesn’t spoon-feed you—but teaches you how to think for yourself?
Sharing the experience of Om Shakya from Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, who has been associated with my mentorship since last year.
What stood out to me in his feedback is this: “You didn’t spoon-feed; you made me brainstorm and think about the solutions.”That is exactly what I want personal mentorship to achieve. Thank you, Om, for trusting my guidance and for sharing your experience so openly. ---------------------------------------------
