बहुत समय पहले, हमारा परिवार एक सुखी और समृद्ध परिवार था। हम तीन भाई थे जो एक दूसरे से बहुत प्यार करते थे। कुछ समय में हमारे बूढ़े पिता बहुत बीमार हो गये। वह स्वर्ग चला गया और हममें से प्रत्येक से एक हजार सोने के दीनार की वसीयत की। हम चतुर थे इसलिए हमने विभिन्न दुकानों में निवेश किया और जल्द ही अच्छे व्यापारी बन गए।

नौकायन के लगभग दो महीने बाद, हमने एक बंदरगाह पर लंगर डाला। हमने वहां व्यापार करके बहुत पैसा कमाया। जब हम जाने के लिए तैयार हुए तो एक खूबसूरत लेकिन गरीब महिला मेरे पास आई। वह मेरी ओर झुकी और मेरा हाथ चूम लिया। फिर उसने कहा, "सर, कृपया मुझे अपनी पत्नी के रूप में स्वीकार करने की कृपा करें। मेरी देखभाल करने वाला कोई नहीं है और रहने के लिए भी कोई जगह नहीं है।"
मैं दंग रह गया। मैंने कहा, "प्रिय महिला, मैं तुम्हें जानता तक नहीं। तुम मुझसे किसी अजनबी से शादी करने की उम्मीद कैसे कर सकती हो?"

10 The monkey poet readily took a pen and a paper and started to write the same letter so fast. The king and the others were in great surprise on his way of writing. They said "This is not an ordinary monkey. The king turned back and called his daughter. She was a princess of magical powers. In no time she found that he was not a monkey…he was a poet of intelligence. She said that he had been cursed by some evil spirit.
The Princess chanted some mantra and removed the curse on the monkey. In a few minutes the monkey poet changed to a real human poet. The poet smiled happily at the courtiers and they cheered him. The pet thanked the princess for her help.
The King announced his firm decision to appoint the poet as his chief advisor. He served the court as a faithful advisor and served the king loyally for many years.

11 🐒👑The Monkey Advisor:
Long ago there lived a poet. He always searched a calm place for composing new poems. One day he went to a forest nearby to find a calm place. At one place he thought, "It is the best place for me to write poems." The place was quiet and surrounded by trees full of flowers. So he sat there and began to think.
When he was trying to write a poem there entered an evil sprit with anger. The place was very calm. So the sudden entrance of the devil made him frightened. The devil asked the poet. “Eyee....! Who are you?"
In a fierce voice. The poet was stunned for a while on hearing the voice. The face was so ugly that he was afraid to look at the face. When the devil opened his mouth, fire came out and his eyes seemed to be balls of fire. The poet was so frightened that his tongue stammered .
A little later again the devil spoke, “How dare you enter our place" on hearing the roaring of the devil the poet said “I am am an innocent poet, I want to write poem in a lonely and calm place. So I came here. I didn’t know that this place was yours. I don’t have any bad aim “If you give me a little time, I will quit the place".
But the bad devil was not ready to hear his voice and began to curse him, “I won’t excuse you. You made a big mistake. You should be punished for that. So you will turn into a monkey from now."
All of a sudden the poet become a monkey, grey in color. The devil saw the monkey poet and said, "Oh! Ha! You shall be like this for many years."
Then he left the place. The monkey poet cried and cried for a while. But he could not do anything except weeping. As he got hungry he began to eat the fruits and nuts and sleep on the trees like real monkeys. He could not talk and write poems as he did earlier.
He walked on the earth and leaped on the trees for days. One day he reached a seashore and luckily found a ship which was ready to leave. The monkey poet in no time jumped on to the ship and moved here and there over the top. The passengers saw the monkey on the ship and started to shout. "Monkey! Monkey!! Any one come and throw this away".
They said with fear. One of the passengers quickly came forward and threw him into the sea.
Some passengers shouted,"Kill him! Kill!."
Now the captain of the ship came there and saw the monkey struggling on the water. He was a kind-hearted man. So he asked the passengers "No! No, you don’t worry about the monkey. It will not harm you. This poor creature looks strange. I can manage him.
The Monkey poet was safe. He thanked the captain for his timely help. Then he sat in a corner silently without any misbehaviour. Finally the ship reached a port - that was Baghdath.
With a little smile, it thanked the captain . It jumped from the ship and wandered on the roads of Baghdath.
Just then he heard the news that the king wanted a good Advisor to him. To get selected all had to write a letter of worthy words. The best letter writer shall be given the post of the Chief advisor. The Monkey poet also wrote a letter to the king and participated in the competition. He wrote a letter of fine message. When the king read the letters, he very much liked the monkey's letter. So he ordered the writer of the letter to be brought before him soon.
The courtiers came with the news to the monkey poet who sprung before the king at once. The King saw the monkey with wonder and said "This poor monkey! You all say this creature wrote the letter!".
One of the minister said “This is true my lord. It was written by the Monkey Lord" All the courtiers and the crowded public around the king, cheered the monkey.
They wondered, "He can't talk. But how can he write a letter of such a quality. The monkey stood before the king majestically. But the king wanted to test the monkey and asked it to write the same letter now with the same words. | 416 | 1 | Loading... |

17 🧌 The Little Hunchbacked:
Once upon a time in ancient Kashgar, on the borders of great territory, a tailor lived with his wife. The couple were deep in love with each other.
One morning the tailor was working busily in his shop. A little hunchbacked came and sat by the shop's door. He held a tambour that he played and sang many sweet songs. The tailor was very impressed by the talents of the little hunchbacked.
He thought, "I'll take him home. When I am at the shop my wife is lonely at home. He will entertain my wife well."
So the tailor took the little hunchbacked house in the evening. His wife had already arranged hot dinner on the table. On seeing a guest, she brought a plate and soon they were introduced. Three of them had a good dinner and joked with each other. The little hunchbacked ate a fish. But, as ill-luck would have it, he swallowed a fish-bone. Soon enough, the little hunchbacked started choking. The tailor patted his back hard while his wife gave water to him to drink but the little hunchbacked did not recover. He choked on the fish-bone and soon lay dead by the dinner table.
The tailor and his wife felt very sorry at their guest's demise. Then they grew worried. They feared that the guards of the king would come to accuse them of murder. They were scared to go to prison. So the couple thought that they would make a plan so that it would be appeared that someone other had caused his death.
After thinking for a long time, they decided to leave the hunchbacked at a Jewish doctor's clinic-cum-residence. After a while, the tailor and his wife carried the dead body of hunchbacked to the doctor's house. They knocked at the door which led to a steep stairway to the doctor's house. As it was dark a maid came down the stairway with halting steps. On enquiry, the tailor said, "We have brought a man who is very ill. Here take this advance money for the Jewish doctor. Tell him to rush down here." The maid went upstairs to call her master. Meanwhile, the tailor and his wife put the dead body of the hunchbacked on the stairs in a sitting position at the top stair. Then they ran away from the spot.
Now the young Jewish doctor came out running to see the ill patient whose advance payment he had received. As he ran out, he tripped over the body of the hunchbacked which he could not see in the dark. The collision caused the body of the hunchbacked to on down the stairs. As the Jewish doctor reached the hunchbacked, he thought that he had killed him when he rolled down the stairs. Now it was the turn of the Jewish doctor to fear. He quickly carried the dead body straight to his wife's chamber. There he told his wife what had happened. His wife started crying bitterly. The Jewish doctor thought that he would now have to surrender and confess to the murder of the little hunchbacked. But his clever wife stopped him. She said, "You'll be foolish to confess and go to prison. Do as I tell you. Both of us will carry this corpse to our roof. From there we'll step on to our neighbour's roof. I know that our Muslim neighbour is not at home now. We'll throw the body into his house by lowering it in through the chimney." The doctor agreed and soon he and his wife carried out their plan successfully.
The Jewish doctor's neighbour, the Muslim, worked at the Sultan's palace. He provided oil and butter for the royal kitchen. He had a store-room in his house where he kept his goods and many rats and mice roamed in freely. When the doctor and his wife lowered the dead body of the hunchbacked through the chimney, it went straight into the store-room.
That night when the Muslim-neighbour entered the storeroom with his lantern, he saw a thief standing by the wall, the roof above where the chimney was. He thought that the thief had entered through the chimney. He picked a stout stick and started beating the thief. He yelled, "You thief, you've been stealing my butter for months and I thought that the mice were doing it." | 529 | 1 | Loading... |

19 After a while when the thief did not respond and lay sideways on the floor, the neighbour went nearer. He was horrified to see that the thief was dead. His brutal beatings had killed the thief. Now the devout Muslim asked God for forgiveness and felt very guilty and afraid indeed. Then he thought of getting rid of the body in such a way that no one would suspect him at all. He thought for a while. Then, he picked the dead body of the hunchbacked and carried it in the market. As it was night time, no one saw him as he leant the body against one of the shop's wall and crept back home.
Just before dawn, a rich Christian merchant was returning from a feast where he had drunk a lot. He was going to the bath to fresh up. He walked hastily because if he was seen drunk by any other then he would be punished, according to the law of the land. As he walked fast, he jostled against a man who stood by a shop's wall. So by doing that, the hunchbacked fell on the ground. In his drunk state, the Christian thought that a thief was trying to attack him so he gave a full fisted blow to the man's face. The man fell on the ground. Then the Christian started calling loudly for help. Just then a guard patrolling the area came to him. He stopped the Christian and then called the fallen man to get up but he never moved.
Now the guard declared, "You are a Christian so you killed a Muslim devout. You will be punished for showing disrespect to another religion."
The guard called his assistants to carry the dead body of the hunchbacked. Then the Christian was put into prison.
After investigations, it was revealed that the little hunchbacked had been one of the royal jesters. As the Sultan liked him very much, the guards decided to present the case in the royal court. The Sult1an was enraged that his subjects were killing each other in the name of religion. So he sentenced the Christian to death to teach others a lesson, so that all can live in peace.
Soon the town crier announced that the merchant would be hanged publicly. The crowd gathered at the gallows to witness his death. Just as the hangman was about to tighten the rope around the Christian merchant's neck a man came rushing through the crowd. He cried, "Stop, please in God's name! It is me a Muslim who killed this Muslim brother. How can one kill a dead man? I can't let my hands be stained by the blood of an innocent Christian. Please let him go."
The crowd and guards then heard the Muslim's story. Thus the Christian stepped down and the guards got ready to hang the Muslim. As the Muslim went up to the gallows, someone screamed, "Guards, do stop right away. I confess to this crime."
There was a roar of confusion in the crowd. Then a man emerged.
He was the Jewish doctor. He said, "Please spare my Muslim friend's life for it is I who caused the jester's death."
On enquiry, the Jewish doctor narrated his story and confessed to the death of the hunchbacked caused by him on a dark staircase. The guards and the crowd were surprised at the turn of event. Then they again fell silent as the hangman tightened the noose around the Jewish doctor's neck.
Just then the tailor rushed to the gallows and held the .hangman's hand. He said, "Sir, this noose is for my neck and not for the innocent Jewish doctor. Please listen to what I have to say and you will learn that I am the real culprit."
As the tailor told his story, the hangman and the guards grew confused. The people murmured in surprise and confusion. Then the hangman freed the Jewish doctor as the tailor got ready to meet his death.
Meanwhile in the court, a guard told the Sultan about the drama that had unfolded at the gallows. The Sultan summoned all the accused to be present in the court.
Once, everyone reached the court. The Sultan heard everyone's story. The Sultan understood that the hunchbacked had died due to choking on the fish-bone and all the accused stood innocent. 25 🎭 अच्छा पड़ोसी:
एक समय की बात है, वहाँ दो पड़ोसी रहते थे। एक था कासिम और दूसरा था फहिन. कासिम के पास अकूत संपत्ति थी लेकिन फ़ाहिन को अपनी रोज़ी रोटी के लिए संघर्ष करना पड़ता था। इसलिए फाहिन को अपने पड़ोसी की संपत्ति से ईर्ष्या होती थी। दिन-ब-दिन ईर्ष्या और भी बढ़ती गई और अंततः वह वास्तविक घृणा के रूप में बदल गई। इसलिए फाहिन ने स्वाभाविक रूप से कासिम के खिलाफ साजिश रचने की योजना बनाई। चूँकि कासिम बुद्धिमान था इसलिए वह फाहिन की मानसिकता को जानता था।
फ़ाहिन ने कासिम को हानि पहुँचाने की एक योजना सोची। पूरा दिन उसने बिना कोई काम किए कोई योजना बनाने में बर्बाद कर दिया। कासिम जानता था कि फाहिन उसकी दौलत से जल रहा है और उसके खिलाफ साजिश रचने में समय बर्बाद कर रहा है।
कासिम अपनी दौलत से अपने पड़ोसी को परेशान नहीं करना चाहता था। उस ने फहीम के घर से कहीं दूर अपना ठिकाना बदलने की योजना बनाई. इसलिये वह दूर देश में चला गया और वहीं बस गया। वहाँ वे सद्भावना के शिक्षक के रूप में आराम से बस गये। हर समय उनकी बातें सुनने के लिए लोग घिरे रहते थे। जैसे-जैसे दिन बीतते गए, वहां रहने वाले लोगों द्वारा उन्हें एक पवित्र व्यक्ति माना जाने लगा। उनके नाम की प्रसिद्धि दूर-दूर तक फैल गई।
यह खबर फाहिन को भी लग गयी. इसलिए वह उसे जल्द ही देखने के लिए बहुत उत्सुक था। अगली सुबह वह कासिम को व्यक्तिगत रूप से देखने के लिए दुष्ट विचारों के साथ अपनी यात्रा पर निकल पड़ा। कासिम को पहले फ़ाहिन की नफरत से कोई फ़र्क़ नहीं पड़ा, उसने फ़ाहिन का गर्मजोशी से स्वागत किया।
फ़ाहिन ने ऐसा व्यवहार किया मानो वह कासिम का घनिष्ठ मित्र हो, लेकिन उसके मन में एक गुप्त योजना थी। कासिम ने फ़ाहिन को बढ़िया डिनर दिया, डिनर के बाद दोनों उसके घर के बाहर निकले।
आँगन में वसीयत थी। जब वे कुएं के पास टहल रहे थे तो फहीन ने अचानक कासिम को कुएं में धक्का दे दिया। कासिम को तैरना नहीं आता था इसलिए वह कुएं में डूब गया। लेकिन वह बहुत भाग्यशाली था. उसने कुएं के नीचे एक नया साम्राज्य देखा। जब उसने नये राज्य में प्रवेश किया तो राजा के सेवक उसे राजा के सामने ले आये। दरबार में एक मंत्री ने कासिम को एक पवित्र व्यक्ति के रूप में पहचाना और उसने राजा को इस बारे में सूचित किया।
जब राजा ने यह समाचार सुना तो वह बहुत प्रसन्न हुआ। उसने मन ही मन सोचा, "मेरी बेटी को काफी समय से एक अजीब बीमारी है। कोई भी उसे ठीक नहीं कर पाया। क्या वह उसकी बीमारी ठीक कर सकता है?"
इसलिए उसने कासिम से उसकी बेटी की बीमारी ठीक करने का अनुरोध किया। उसने उससे वादा किया कि अगर वह उसकी अजीब बीमारी ठीक कर देगा तो उसे अच्छा इनाम मिलेगा।
कासिम ने कुछ देर सोचा और फिर अपनी विशेष शक्ति से राज्य की राजकुमारी बेटी को ठीक कर दिया। राजकुमारी खुश थी. यह देखकर राजा ने कासिम का स्वागत किया और उसे अपना बुद्धिमान बना लिया। अत: कासिम महल में सुखपूर्वक रहने लगा।
कुछ समय बाद कासिम अपने पुराने राज्य में वापस चला गया। जब वह पुरानी जगह की ओर चला तो उसे एक भिखारी दिखाई दिया। जब उसने उसे करीब से देखा तो पाया कि वह कोई और नहीं बल्कि उसका पुराना पड़ोसी फहिन था। उसने फ़ाहिन से पूछा, "क्या तुम मुझे पहचान सकते हो?"
फ़हिन! तुम्हें क्या हुआ!" "मैं कासिम हूं"। कासिम ने कहा. अब फ़ाहिन ने आश्चर्य से धीरे से मुँह खोला और कहा, “आप! तुम कासिम! मैंने पहले ही तुम्हें तुम्हारे बगीचे के कुएं में धकेल दिया था। कासिम ने उत्तर दिया कि उसने केवल उसके साथ अच्छा किया है, उसे आश्चर्य हुआ कि वह एक नए राज्य में पहुंच गया और अब राजा का वजीर बन गया है। कासिम ने फाहिन की ओर इशारा करते हुए कहा, "तुम्हारी ईर्ष्या ने ऐसा किया मैं वजीर हूं और इसने तुम्हें भिखारी बना दिया। आपको इसके लिए भुगतान करना होगा"।

Once a fisherman lived in a village. He led his life with his earnings from fishing. One day he cast his net into the sea. He waited for some time and pulled the net out. But there was nothing in the net. He felt worried and thought in his mind, "To day, my family and I will starve without food." He tried again and again but was in vain.
Finally he cast the net without any hope into the sea. After a few minutes, he pulled the net. He felt that the net was heavy. His face brightened….It looks there is a big fish in the net. But when he pulled out the net from the sea, he saw a big old jar in the net. It was closed by a beautifully decorated lid. He tried and opened the Jar.
There came a gigantic genie with an ugly wicked face. He laughed in high pitch “I have been hungry inside the jar. I want food immediately. I shall eat you". He said in loud voice. On hearing this the fisherman was terribly afraid. But he gathered his courage and said. “You are so big. How can I satisfy your hunger? The wicked genie again asked him to come near so that it could eat the fisherman.
Again the fisherman said, ‘‘I am poor. I didn't do any harm to you. Then why do you want to kill me. Genie?" But the genie said. “I would not hear your words again. Come near me quick".
But the fisherman had an idea in his mind to escape from the genie said", I am ready now…but before you kill me you have to answer my question".
"Quick", the genie said with anger.
The fisherman asked him how such a huge genie could be inside a small Jar. The genie replied that he could make himself as tiny as he. The fisherman wanted to test it. So the genie made himself as little as possible and jumped into the jar. Suddenly the fisherman closed the Jar as quickly as he could and threw the Jar into the Sea. Once there lived a merchant in Arabia. He often went to the Far East countries to sell his goods. His wife knew some magic. When his husband was away and was alone at home she read the magical books. After some years she became evil with magical powers. The merchant returned home with a lot of money and gifts for her.
Once the merchant went on a long journey and didn’t turn up for months. So his wife was in distress. She was angry on her husband and married another man who was wealthy in the town. When her husband returned back, he knew all about her and felt sad. While she saw him near her new home she cursed him and changed him as a dog with her evil magical powers.
The merchant wandered here and there in the streets and took food from the streets as a dog. One day it went near a butcher’s shop. The butcher gave some meat with bones. The dog ate only the flesh but not the bones. The butcher noticed it and told his daughter who also knew magic. His daughter came out and watched the dog carefully. She knew with her magical power that it was not a real dog. And that he was a merchant who was cursed by his own wife as dog.
The butcher asked his daughter, “Can we change the dog as before".
His daughter replied, “Yes I can".
Then she took some water from a bowl in her hand and said some magical verses. She then sprayed the water on the dog. The dog was changed to this real form as a merchant in a minute. The merchant was amazed and said. "Oh! I am back again to my form".
Then the merchant told the butcher’s daughter, “I want to teach a good lesson to my wife. Can you change her as an ass?"
The butcher’s daughter thought for a while and then took some water in a vessel and chanted some verses. Then she gave it to the merchant telling that if he sprayed the water on his wife she would be an ass then. The merchant took the water and went to his old house. His wife was in the garden at that time. The merchant went behind her and sprayed the water on her. Soon she became an ass.
“It is the punishment for you" the merchant told the ass. He then went to the butcher and asked him to give away his daughter to him in marriage. The butcher readily accepted and got her married to the merchant. Then they lived happily for many years.
