🇷🇺🇨🇳 Russia, China leaders to meet as SCO summit highlights multipolar push Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping are set to join more than a dozen leaders at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The SCO, which marks its 25th anniversary this year, officially describes itself as “not an alliance directed against other states.” However, Moscow and Beijing have increasingly used the platform to promote a multipolar world and challenge Western influence. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan are also expected to attend, alongside leaders from India and Pakistan. Iran joined the SCO in 2023 and maintains close military ties with Russia and strong energy links with China. Researchers at SDU Soft Robotics have developed a limbless robot inspired by worms, using inflatable artificial muscles and a flexible kirigami-style skin. The soft robot can crawl, turn, rotate and navigate around obstacles using controlled body movements and onboard sensors.
