Many know of the ill-fated FBI 10mm, the S&W 1076 - a hand cannon adopted after the 1986 Miami shootout - and its failure due to the down-loaded 900fps cartridge being too stout for weak fed wrists.... What fewer know, however, is of the MP5/10, a jackhammer of an SMG, much loved by the FBI HRT, SWAT, and other response teams. While the rest of the agency went 40SW, and then 9mm, the MP5/10 continued to see service for several decades. Pushing a unusual middle-weight 190gr round-nosed jacketed hollowpoint (most 10mm at the time was 180gr or 200gr, and of a truncated cone design) at north of 1300fps, the platform delivered nearly 800ft/lb of kinetic force to the target. Not far off from the punch of a <10" barreled 5.56! With its weight (easy to carry, but forgiving to shoot), shoulderability, and four-position selector, burst and full auto made for neat groupings at normal engagement ranges. If you love your dog, and don't want to meet the real FBI, your best bet to replicate an MP5/10 is a sear host.
