Repost from ASHCHARYA BANSAL
Hii sir,
I am Shaik Mohammed Khaleel, I have graduated in the year 2020 and because of covid and lock down my final exams were held in August 2020 online mode, I wanted to take coaching at Made easy but beacuse of lockdown it didnt happen.
With my preparation at college I couldn't clear GATE 2020, So i have preapred with what ever i am having in the lockdown and due to financial condition i was in need of a job (i have had TCS but i didn't want to join IT) Then i have writtten a state DSC exam in which i have got a job which grade was between clerk and attender. It was newly setup system in AP and we were the ground staff and had access to people directly so we were used in every work apart from what the job profile said (like i was having Covid test and Vaccination duties, surveys etc.,) the over all work so much that i couldn't consistently give time for preparation i have attempted GATE 2021 and got 14,000 Rank. As i was from diploma background i have started applying for those jobs also and whatever jobs notifications like sail OCTT, ISRO TA, IGCAR, SSC JE, HPCL BT, HPCL Maintenace Technician, HPCL MT etc., i have cleared HPCL Boiler Technician and also HPCl Maintenance technician but i was not given job as they came to know that i had BTech ( Btech students are ineligible for these jobs)
I couldn't clear GATE 2022, GATE 2023.
I was having a bond with my job for 3Years so i couldn't leave that job for preparation,
So i have waited for my training period to complete so i can apply for long leave. Usually the training period is for 2Y till which i get 15k and after that the basic will be 22400, but they just delayed my probation decleration by 7 months so i got my training period completed after 2Y and 7M then i have applied for 8 months leave and reached Made Easy Hyd in July 2023, Started preparing there, i have felt some gap in understanding and sitting for hours. But i have tried my best to do what ever instructed by the faculty in the class. After you have explained about how to make a short notes i have changed my way of preparing short notes. And then as i have joined late my classes completed on jan7 and then i had very limited time first i have planned of revising subjects, wb questions and PYQs but it wasnt helping so started Test series and started learing the subjects from the questions which i wasn't able to answer which made a huge impact in utilization of the remaining time. Then i have attempted Gate 2024 - got 1187 rank in ME
and Rank 30 in PI
I have also got selected in BEL - CBT ( i wasnt allowed in interview as i couldn't produce NOC on the day of interview)
BDL - MT ( CBT CLEARED)
HPCL (Engineer- CBT - GT - cleared but PI - not cleared)
NPCIL - Cleared.
The thing which you always say that our past actions doesn't matter for success but our present actions does. This made me keep going and be confident during my preparation at hyderabad.
And i also want to say whoever are preparing for gate to be confident and just focus on your preparation and not on the results

70.67 MARKS
Started preparing for gate in 2020...due to COVID I couldn't attend any classes so followed unacademy free classes and got 10k rank in 2021. Again prepared myself for 2022 got 5k rank. Thought this preparation can't get me into psu.so came to Hyderabad joined made easy for GATE 2023, got 2658 rank. since i was 21 passed out so got depressed and not in a position to take drop and waste one more year. I came to know about my mistakes and told my parents about this. They told me to take decision wisely so that I shouldn't regret again.meanwhile I got shortlisted for hpcl and BARC scientist interviews through separate exams not through gate. These two interviews boosted my confidence to take one more year drop and work hard for it and achieved this rank...
2021- 43marks- 10k
2022- 41- 5k
2023- 45- 2658
Hpcl- gt cleared but couldn't clear pi round
BARC SOc- interview duration 58mins- but couldn't make it to final list
As the selection ratio is less. So i didn't expect
my name in final list.
2024-
Hpcl- written cleared- but didn't attend gt and pi
BARC- Technical officer- written cleared-interview 53 mins- result awaiting
BARC- Stipendary trainee- written cleared- interview 45mins- result awaiting
GATE- 70.67marks- AIR50
ISRO scintist- written cleared- waiting for interview call
NPCIL- interview shortlisted-result awaiting
BARC SOc-interview was not so good again couldn't make it into final list
Above mentioned are just for the reference who thought gate is just an exam and can clear within one year. It may take time but if u workhard u can get it in one year otherwise it will take time..but u will get it if u give wholehearted efforts towards whatever u r preparing for.
Coming to my preparation strategy
Made easy class notes-workbook-test series-pyqs (4-5 times before gate).and in made easy telegram group students post good questions better if u spend 30 mins in telegram once in everyday..if u think that is tough question save it and try to solve it till u get the concept behind it.
The reason why I took these many years is that I am from diploma background in which I didn't studied mathematics and it is important subject. Even in technical questions u will find mathematical relations. Which took a lot of time to learn. I was an Average student. Previously I have studied only concept then came to know that gate requires concept, problem solving and time management. Learned about it through my 3 attempts and made it in my 4th attempt. Hope this helps many students struggling like me. All the best lot of PSUs are waiting for u. Prepare hard give ur best.

My content would be specefic to those students, whose Gate score is on the verge of cut off score for NITIE (around 750 for general, - 50 subsequently for other categories), and how they can convert the process.✌🏻
*General Info*
1. A candidate should start preparing for the interview process (GD+PI) one month prior to the interview dates. Expected dates of interview would be around 22 Apr. One month of continuous preparation can lead a student to convert the process.
2. As many students don't talk much in english during the preparation at made easy. So, I recommend them to work on their communication skills during this month.
Sources-
a) Make a small group of 3-5 students and discuss the current issues happening around the world.
b) Also, students can use android applications like Opentalk, which allows them to talk to strangers in english.
*GD*
1. Panel will consist of 3 persons (profs/alums) and a group 8-10 students will discuss on any one topic. Topics will be either Generic (make in india, FDI, GST, etc.) or related to some current issue.
2. GD timings will be (1+10+1) mins. 1 min initial time to think, 10 min discussion, 1 min conclusion/ summary.
3. 3 entries will be ideal of 30 secs each. Recommended not to speak more than that.
4. GD marks will be given 60% based on communication skills, 20% group coordination, 20% knowledge/ content.
5. Based on experience, it is said that GD plays a crucial role in someone's selection.
6. Made easy's interview preparation is at par for GD preparation. I too joined the classes for a week.
7. Try to start or conclude/summarised the GD.
8. If you feel, you spoke well, then try to promote someone in the group who didn't speak much. This will show your group coordination skills.
9. It is not preferred to give only your suggestion on the topic, rather put some facts and then discuss what you believe. For facts you need to make content on every imp topic and learn.
*PI*
1. Panel will compromises of 3 people again.
2. Interview may take place for 5- 20 mins, depending upon no. Of candidates in that slot. More candidates choose third day and mid slot. So wisely choose your slots. Although it is not that 5 min candidate will not be selected and 20 min candidate will be selected. It is just, since panel have less candidates, so the interview time increases.
3. Prepare a 1 min. Intro of yours, including your hometown, family background, your branch, college, final year project name and deliverables, summer internship, your hobbies and achievements.
4. Also prepare some imp technical question (Industrial engineering, thermodynamics) or subjects related to your final year project or internship.
Some Imp topics- PERT, CPM, Laws of Thermodynamics.
5. Your final year project will be discussed. Prepare for questions like, what & how u did it.
6. Some HR questions will be asked like, why NITIE, your strengths & weaknesses.
7. They will be judging you on the basis of your communication skills, and your interest towards NITIE.
8. Wear a good formal dress with tie, which suits you best. Clean shaven face is recommended for guys.
9. Invest time while filling the application form. As this will be your CV for the process.
10. Have a prior return bookings, as the panel may ask you to check your management skills.
11. They may ask you about your stay in NITIE, and food facility at the initial to make you feel comfortable.
12. Keep smiling, be confident and be courteous to the panel as these people are looking for such energy on the campus.

I have given interviews of ESE ,IISc along with ONGC , IOCL , BPCL (college and gate) , EIL ,BARC , ISRO (college and written) and have been selected in all except my first one ;)
So lets start with a failure
First interview : Isro where I panicked in the beginning and needless to say the result . I had prepared for interview by memorizing the introductions and favorite topic and project.
Then what went wrong ?? I could not deliver properly and my confidence got a hit and I panicked.
Lesson learnt : Be calm , composed and when a question is thrown at you ,never reply instantly . Think for some 4–5 seconds (the wait time should not become uneasy ) ,frame an answer start or think of concepts to be told and then start the answer . If you don't know , then also this thing shows that you tried to give attempt . If no answer comes in your mind , you can say sorry sir , I don't know about this but will learn about it (In future learn it as it will help you in other interviews ). This helped me as my answers were more organized and framed as compared to instant answers.
Then never bluff much or if want to say something that you are not confident , " sorry sir , I don't know the exact answer but I can guess if you allow ." If yes tell the explanation and its reasoning.
Then comes the part , " Be Yourself " or try to " Be Ideal " . So what makes you ideal for the Company ?? A company wants a dedicated but practical and thinking person . So whatever you say , there should be layers or at least one layer of reasoning to it .
Timeline of a Interview
• Introduction : You start with a series of points to start the discussion and make yourself comfortable. A brief intro covers cllg , birthplace, degree branch , college city , family .These will pose some questions . You have to think what can be asked from these keywords and if possible google them like meaning of your name .
• Prepare Company specific points.
The important subject for that company like Oil psus - chairman , its revenue , some award , welfare schmes , technical working and the subjects knowledge important for them are to be covered specifically like fluid machinery , ic engines .
Why do you want to join a company ?
What will you offer to company or Why should we hire you ?
Some recent news of the company and dont forget to watch the company video on YouTube and its website which itself will give you answers for above questions.
• Also learn the Important Subjects and their application and how it is useful in daily life . Technical subjects ( first priority to be given to subjects which are important for their applications , and then all basic laws and definitions of all subjects ) .
If the interviewer asks you 2–3 questions from the subject you are uncomfortable ,you can tell " Sorry sir , I have not prepared this subject well . But I have prepared these ….subjects well . " Because instead of wasting time of your interview for questions you dont know , you should use the time for questions you know . Example - An interview with - 10 question ( unanswered or wrong) with 15 questions answered well does not seem appealing compared with an interview with 4 questions ( unanswered including an apology) and 18 questions answered .
• Theory of your Projects / Training , problems faced and how you overcame them by using your strengths and their application in Present or future .
Always remember , the interviewer mostly comes empty and as you give answers he through reasoning digs out new questions which becomes difficult for us . So you should know what you know well and then after thinking give answers ( layers of reasoning ) . That's why mock interviews are important as you may always look from a same angle but others may help you in looking other important points.
• Write some Strengths to tell and incidents to support them . Also prepare for weakness ( makes you human :D ) and tell a strategy like how you are tackling it .
• Make some hobbies to tell or prepare some layers of questions to tell about hobbies and why these hobbies help you.

Respected Sir🙏
My name is Sourav Chandran, a made easy online prime batch.
I graduated in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Delhi in 2022.
Then I enrolled for GATE+ESE batch for ESE & GATE. I was more inclined towards ESE but could not able to make it to the final list. Finally I qualified for *NTPC* and *NHPC*. I learned RAC in prime batch and Powerplant in Mains batch from you.
*Preparation STRATEGY*
1. Main Class ko bahut dhyan se dekhta tha, uske sath hi apne notes ready krta tha
2. On the same day, main notes ko revise krta tha
3. jo v WB ke questions and PYQ ko solve krta tha on the same day
4. Uske baad based on WB questions and PYQ agr koi new questions, new tricks, new methods for solving questions agr mujhe milti to main class notes me add kr deta tha.
5. Jb pura subject khatm ho jata tb, 20-25 din bad fir se sare notes ko padh
ke Made Easy ke online Test deta tha
6. Maine koi v extra side books nhi refer kia tha.... Sirf Class notes aur teacher koi assignments die to wo kia tha maine
*FEEDBACK*
1. Mains Batch is a game changer. It gave me depth understanding of each subject.
2. Sir, Aap jo hmesa class ke beech me pura mechanical engineering ko revise krwa dete h, wo sbse best laga made easy me..
3. Mera powerplant utna strong nhi tha but after attending your mains batch, mera pura thermal part me bhut jade confidence aagya tha. Aap se padhne ke aad pura link baith jaata....Thermo, RAC, Powerplant, IC engine, Hydraulics.... ye sb mere lie bhut cake walk ho gya tha..
Thank you so much for everything you did for me. I am very fortunate and blessed to learn from you.🙏
I have decided to join NTPC and will continue my study for ESE. Keep blessing me as always🙏
Regards
Sourav Chandran
