Although my interview was pure technical but they did ask about government irrigation schemes and welfare schemes related to water to some of candidates

Hello Sir I am Sunil Kumar Grewal. I recently gave Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) Assistant Engineer (Irrigation) interview on 28/10/2024.
Whole process involved prelim(qualifying/ objective), Subject Knowledge test (mains/subjective) [4 times the no of vacancies qualified] and interview [2 times the no. of vacancies qualified].
Reporting time was 8am but they started Document verification (DV) process at 9am, All candidates were made to sit in hallway in front of reception, they were calling 3 candidates at a time to reception for document verification, It hardly took 1hr for DV as number of qualified candidates were 16 from mechanical, beside that 15 from Electrical and 4 from horticulture were there as well for the DV and interview, at 9:45am Deputy Secretary briefed us entire interview process and told how transparent this interview is and gave us instructions to be followed, HPSC made great changes in interview process and yes it can be said that it is the best and most transparent interview process in India,
Interview only starts after all DVs have been completed, after DV, biometric was done then candidate were instricted to go to deputy secretary chamber and on his table there are many random IDs which contained only a unique random number
You have to choose 1 card from it and it would be your ID till the entire interview process and they click your photograph and attach your details to your interview ID number and you were asked to check and verify it on the screen, once you get your ID you are made to sit in interview hallway to wait for your turn, you can't discuss or talk with anyone once you get your interview ID, since there were only 16 candidates so there was only 1 interview board but we were instructed if there were more candidates there would have been more boards and each candidates would have given choice to draw a slip from a box having board numbers and you would have sent to that respective board whatever number the slip have that you drew from box. We were instructed that during entire interview you cannot reveal any of your personal details like name, surname, caste, place from you belong, your schooling or college name and any information which you feel that it can reveal your true identity, similarly interview board doesnt know which candidate they are interviewing and they are not authorized to ask any personal details of candidates, if they do by mistake then candidate can deny it respectfully, so yes it was transparent and unique interview process made in such a way that interviewer can give marks purely on the basis of candidate personality and his interview performance. Also it was fastest as well as results were declared very next day on 29/10/2024
Now coming to my interview experience.
There were 4 members in board 3 male and 1 female, they started with asking about my education qualifications, passing year, experiences. Then it was pure technical
1. Suppose you are SDO and you are assigned to bring water to a village, so how would you plan and design all of it.
2. Major loss in pipe, Darcy-Weisbach Equation formula.
3. Minor losses in pipe
4. Different types of pumps
5. Centrifugal pump working principle, how it is different from submersible pump
6. If you go to market what specifications would you give to buy a water pipeline
7. VCRS, heat rejection process in it is constant pressure process or constant temperature process?
8. What is multistaging in compressor, why we do it, draw PV diagram for single stage compression and multistage compression.
9. If we don't do multistaging can't I get my required compression?
10. Axial flow compressor and Centrifugal compressor working and principle
11. What are different types of fuild, newton's law of viscosity
12. What do we call large Dia pipe which brings water from reservoir to turbine in hydraulic turbines?
13. What is draft tube, why do we use it
14. Where do we use multistage compression?
15. Tell me the energy transformation and energy transfer involved in centrifugal compression and axial flow compression.

3. Passion: His love for physics drove him to continue working.
4. Determination: Hawking lived an extraordinary life, defying his initial prognosis.
_Message to Students:_
"Don't let anyone tell you what you can or cannot do. Your potential is limitless. Focus on your strengths, and with persistence and hard work, you can overcome any obstacle."
Stephen Hawking's story teaches us to never underestimate our capabilities and to stay committed to our goals.

Repost from ASHCHARYA BANSAL
Sir, my name's Ajeet Kumar Sahu, I'm from Bhilai, CG.
I was working in pvt industry for 2.5 years... And in last year of my job I took ese mains classes...
It was tough to study along with my job but I always used to think I deserve more and i need to make time to study anyhow...
I resigned from my job in dec 21 to focus completely on gate 22.
I used to plan my everyday, including my work, study, test, revision, food and sleep... In free time in office I used to solve questions from telegram group to keep myself in flow...
Sir, In gate 2022, I got AIR-345 (ME) and AIR-67 (XE).
Based on that I got placed in nalco, ntpc, sail, ioc, etc
I joined SAIL as I got posting in my hometown.
Now I go office from my home, enjoy time with family and friends... All this was never possible without blessings of parents and teachers... A big load of thanks to you sir.
Looking back it's a beautiful journey, and looking forward to have more exciting and challenging experiences.

Hii sir,
I am Shaik Mohammed Khaleel, I have graduated in the year 2020 and because of covid and lock down my final exams were held in August 2020 online mode, I wanted to take coaching at Made easy but beacuse of lockdown it didnt happen.
With my preparation at college I couldn't clear GATE 2020, So i have preapred with what ever i am having in the lockdown and due to financial condition i was in need of a job (i have had TCS but i didn't want to join IT) Then i have writtten a state DSC exam in which i have got a job which grade was between clerk and attender. It was newly setup system in AP and we were the ground staff and had access to people directly so we were used in every work apart from what the job profile said (like i was having Covid test and Vaccination duties, surveys etc.,) the over all work so much that i couldn't consistently give time for preparation i have attempted GATE 2021 and got 14,000 Rank. As i was from diploma background i have started applying for those jobs also and whatever jobs notifications like sail OCTT, ISRO TA, IGCAR, SSC JE, HPCL BT, HPCL Maintenace Technician, HPCL MT etc., i have cleared HPCL Boiler Technician and also HPCl Maintenance technician but i was not given job as they came to know that i had BTech ( Btech students are ineligible for these jobs)
I couldn't clear GATE 2022, GATE 2023.
I was having a bond with my job for 3Years so i couldn't leave that job for preparation,
So i have waited for my training period to complete so i can apply for long leave. Usually the training period is for 2Y till which i get 15k and after that the basic will be 22400, but they just delayed my probation decleration by 7 months so i got my training period completed after 2Y and 7M then i have applied for 8 months leave and reached Made Easy Hyd in July 2023, Started preparing there, i have felt some gap in understanding and sitting for hours. But i have tried my best to do what ever instructed by the faculty in the class. After you have explained about how to make a short notes i have changed my way of preparing short notes. And then as i have joined late my classes completed on jan7 and then i had very limited time first i have planned of revising subjects, wb questions and PYQs but it wasnt helping so started Test series and started learing the subjects from the questions which i wasn't able to answer which made a huge impact in utilization of the remaining time. Then i have attempted Gate 2024 - got 1187 rank in ME
and Rank 30 in PI
I have also got selected in BEL - CBT ( i wasnt allowed in interview as i couldn't produce NOC on the day of interview)
BDL - MT ( CBT CLEARED)
HPCL (Engineer- CBT - GT - cleared but PI - not cleared)
NPCIL - Cleared.
The thing which you always say that our past actions doesn't matter for success but our present actions does. This made me keep going and be confident during my preparation at hyderabad.
And i also want to say whoever are preparing for gate to be confident and just focus on your preparation and not on the results

As far as I remembered there will be 2 stages
1. Personal interview
2. GD (3 rounds i.e. GD, GT, and Case study)
1. In my interview they start with the brief introduction of mine. In between they ask like I am panipat so what panipat is famous for and like and I have done my graduation for Deenbandhu chhotu ram University of science and technology so they will ask who was Chootu ram, what was his contribution and my colz is in Murthal so they ask about murthal is famous for what?
Means I am trying to say whatever you will say in your introduction, one has to concentrate each and every word and try to find which question they can frame from that.
Also they asked me about SAIL, how many integrated plants are there, what is the meaning of integrated plant. One has to go through their website to get all this information.
Also they asked me about my hobbies and any cultural events you managed in your graduation. So basically the post in PSU is of manager so they will try to know whether you have those managerial skills to handle people or have you done anything like that in your colz.
Also they asked like since SAIL is a PSU and a Maharatna company so what is the criteria to be a Maharatna company and what to you understand by PSU and what is the current share of Govt in SAIL.
From technical point of view there were very few questions. Exact questions I don't remember but I wil say they were very easy.
So overall, there is no requirement of going deep into the technical revision. Questions will be very basic and most of them will be those which are not related to technical.
2. GD
Those 3 rounds in GD i.e GD, GT and Case study will be conducted very seriously and one after another.
My suggestion for all three rounds will be stay attentive and listen carefully the procedure of each rounds. One will be able to crack all three. There is hardly any practice one can do for above three rounds.
