My GATE Journey
SARAGADAM GANESH
AIR-50
70.67 MARKS
Started preparing for gate in 2020...due to COVID I couldn't attend any classes so followed unacademy free classes and got 10k rank in 2021. Again prepared myself for 2022 got 5k rank. Thought this preparation can't get me into psu.so came to Hyderabad joined made easy for gate 2023, got 2658 rank. since i was 21 passed out so got depressed and not in a position to take drop and waste one more year. I came to know about my mistakes, believed in myself and told my parents about this. They told me to take decision wisely so that I shouldn't regret again.meanwhile I got shortlisted for hpcl and BARC scientist interviews through separate exams not through gate. These two interviews boosted my confidence...to take one more year drop and worked hard for it and achieved this rank...
2021- 43marks-10k
2022-41-5k
2023-45-2658
Hpcl- gt cleared but couldn't clear pi round
BARC-interview duration 58mins- but couldn't make it to final list
As the selection ratio is less. So i didn't expected my name in final list.
2024-hpcl written cleared- but didn't attend gt and pi
BARC-Technical officer- written cleared-interview 53 mins- result awaiting
BARC-Stipendary trainee-written cleared interview on Apr 2nd.
GATE-70.67marks-AIR50
Above mentioned are just for the reference who thought gate is just an exam and can clear within one year. It may take time but if u workhard u can get it in one year otherwise it will take time..but u will get it if u give wholehearted efforts towards whatever u r preparing for.
Coming to my preparation strategy
Made easy class notes-workbook-test series-pyqs (4-5 times before gate).and in made easy telegram group students post good questiona better if u spend 30 mins in telegram once in everyday.test series try to solve questions which u made mistekes in test minimum 3-4 times so that u will learn the art of problem solving.if u think that is tough question save it and try to solve it till u get the concept behind it.
The reason why I took these many years is that I am from diploma background in which I didn't studied mathematics and it is important subject even in technical questions u will find mathematical relations. Which took a lot of time to learn. I was an Average student. Previously I have studied concept only then came to know that gate requires concept, problem solving and time management. Learned about it though my 3 attempts and made it in my 4th attempt. Hope this helps many students struggling like me. All the best lot of PSUs are waiting for u prepare hard give ur best.

1.Firstly solve pyq atleast once to get the idea and depth of questions
2.I would recommend to solve ESE Mains question if time permits because I believe once you solve those long 20 marks question you can clear any technical exam .
3.One question of mains will help you revise 4-5 concepts in a single question
4.For Mathematics solve atleast 2 question from each unit which makes around 15-16 question per day.If you do this for 6-7months your will end up solving around 3000 question just by giving half an hour to maths (Refer made easy mathematics book it has around 3000 question)
4.If you feel you are weak in theory in certain Subjects solve ESE prelims question for that subject every part of theory will get covered automatically (Especially in subjects like Production)
5.Solve test series simultaneously with preparation to know the loopholes in your preparation ,analysing test is more important than simply giving multiple tests
6.Also as far as accuracy is concerned our accuracy reduces when we start panicking in the exam. For this always attempt paper in 3 rounds,do this in mock tests and compare your accuracy you will be surprised!!!
7.Make separate notebook for mistakes revise it everyday
8.In exam hall in your 1st round of attempting question solve only those questions which you believe you can solve in 1-1.5 minutes.
9.In 1st round only touch those questions in which just by skimming the question you know you can solve in 1 minutes
10.The above two points is known by everyone but very few follow in actual exam.Make this your habit starting from test series and your will find drastic increase in your accuracy and sufficient time to solve the difficult ones.
Regards
Shivanjay

Someone graduated at the age of 22, but waited 5 years before securing a good job.
Someone became a CEO at 25, and died at 50.
While another became a CEO at 50, and lived to 90 years.
Someone is still single, while someone from his school group has become grandfather.
Obama retired at 55 & Trump started at 70.
Everyone in this world works based on their time zone.
People around you might seem ahead of you & some might seem to be behind you.
But everyone is running their own race, in their own time.
Do not envy them.
They are in their time zone, and you are in yours.
So, relax.
You're not late.
You're not early.
You are very much on time.
