TOPIC: MAINTAINING HOLINESS THROUGH PRAYER.
SCRIPTURE: …And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us or our debtors… MATTHEW 6:12.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The uprightness of the child of God is tied to his prayer life.
Our anchor Scripture reveals that prayer is a platform for the maintenance of true holiness.
Now, when we say prayer is the platform for the maintenance of holiness, we mean:
1. Prayer is the platform for true cleansing in life.
The place of prayer is like the place where you go to have a bath, this time, a spiritual bath.
2. Prayer is the platform for the establishment of the lifestyle of uprightness.
The uprightness of the child of God is tied to his prayer life. This is because we absorb the lifestyle of the righteous God as we commune with Him at the place of prayer.
3. It means that prayer is the platform for character transformation.
People who spend time with God experience character transformation. That is why prayer will keep you from sin and sin will keep you from praying. No sinner has a consistent prayer life. Is it easy for a person to take alcohol when he has finished praying? Can someone commit immorality after a hot session of communion with God? No! This is because prayer keeps a person from sin and sin keeps a person from prayer. So, prayer is the platform for character transformation.
Beloved, make up your mind to maintain a lifestyle of consistent prayer to walk in holiness with God.
Remember this: The uprightness of the child of God is tied to his prayer life.
ASSIGNMENT:
1. Ask God for the grace to maintain a consistent lifestyle of prayer.
2. Rely on the help of God to live right always.
