🩸Hypertension: The Silent Killer
- Leading cause of death/heart-attack/brain stroke; more than tobacco use.
- Called "silent killer" as not felt until complications kick in.
- One in every three Indians have Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) - ICMR
- Excess Salt consumption is the leading cause of Hypertension in Indians.
- Less than 5 gm/day (WHO); Indians consume 10-11 gm/day.
- Invisible salts - Pickles, Bread, Namkeen, Papad etc.
- Cutting on the salt can bring down the likelihood by 30%.
