The Shulikuns are seasonal evil spirits that occur among the mythology of Russians in Northern Russia, Prikamye, Urals, Siberia, and the Far East. On the eve of Christmas or Malanya, they come out of the water onto the land, and after Epiphany, they go back into the rivers and ice holes. According to legends, shulikuns run through the streets with hot coals on an iron frying pan or a red-hot iron hook in their hands, with which they can grab people (“hook and burn”), or ride horses, troikas, stupas or “hot” stoves. They are often as tall as a fist, sometimes larger, they can have horse legs and a pointed head, fire blazes from their mouths, they wear white homespun caftans with sashes and pointed hats. On Christmastide, shulikuns crowd around at crossroads or near ice holes, in the forest, teasing drunks, spinning them around and pushing them into the mud, without causing much harm, but they can lure them into an ice hole and drown them in the river.

The Azov Greeks are a sub-group of Russian Greeks that live in the Donetsk People's Republic, primarily in the city of Mariupol and the districts surrounding the city. They are the third largest ethnic group in the DPR and largest community of compactly living Greeks in the entire post-Soviet space. The first Greek settlements arose in the Azov region in the 1780s. According to the Kuchuk-Kainardzhi Peace Treaty of 1774, the Crimean Khanate became independent from the Ottoman Empire . The Azov Greeks are divided into two distinct groups: the Rumeans, who communicate in the Rumean dialect of Greek, and the Urums, who use the Urum language, which belongs to the group of Turkic languages. Both words mean the same thing, literally “Romans” - in the meaning of the Byzantines.

Tula gingerbread is a regional type of printed gingerbread, the most famous type of Russian gingerbread. Generally, Tula gingerbread has the form of a rectangular tile or a flat figure glazed on top. Now most often contains a filling of jam or condensed milk. The first written mention of Tula gingerbread dates back to 1685, but, according to historians, this sweetness appeared in Russia about a century earlier. Gingerbread was then made in almost all Russian cities and villages. However, it was in Tula that the process was brought to perfection and practically elevated to art. Dessert was popular. Sweets were sold for every taste: custard, honey, cream, fruit, mint, and even mustard.

Kasli casting is a Russian folk craft made of cast iron that originated from the city of Kasli in the Chelyabinsk region in 1747, when when the Tula merchant Yakov Korobkov purchased 250 thousand desyatins of land for 500 rubles and founded the Kaslinsky iron and iron smelter Southern Urals. The site was chosen to be rich in cast iron and unique quality molding sand, as well as wood for coal production. When the factory was taken over by the Demidovs in 1751, Kaslin cast iron products were already widely known in Europe and Asia. The next owner of the plant was a free merchant of the First Guild Lev Rastorguev, who paid 700 thousand rubles for the plant in 1809. After Rastorguev's death, the factories were inherited by his two daughters, who attracted the father-in-law of one of them, the famous manager G. F. Zotov, to direct the management. It was he who, following a trip to Germany, organized in 1824, on the basis of ordinary iron foundry production, also casting complex molds into dry sand molds.
