Extreme Texture Mixing in Fashion: Is it actually a new trend?
🔗Pairing unexpected materials like latex with wool or silk with leather has deep historical roots. In Medieval Europe, wool and silk symbolized practicality and status, while Baroque fashion layered velvet, lace, and brocade for opulence. 🔗The Industrial Revolution expanded access to contrasting fabrics, and by the 1920s, avant-garde designers like Elsa Schiaparelli blended unconventional textures. 🔗The punk movement of the 1970s brought rebellion with leather, tartan, and lace, while designers like Alexander McQueen and John Galliano in the 1990s made it haute couture.Brands like Balenciaga, Gucci, and Marine Serre now blend latex, wool, leather, and silk in unexpected ways, often challenging traditional silhouettes and gender norms. Would you dare to mix it up? 🖤✨ #fashion #daily_fashion
