South Africa loses permission to import nuclear fuel for Koeberg from the US Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd., a South African power company, is analyzing how the suspension of an agreement allowing it to import nuclear fuel components from the US may affect its only nuclear facility. On December 4, the US-South Africa Cooperation in Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy Agreement came to an end. ESKOM WANTS TO RETRENCH 500 WHITE MAINTENANCE WORKERS According to Solidarity, Eskom plans to fire 500 white male employees over the next two years, the majority of whom work in maintenance. This is included in the utility's most recent Employment Equity (EE) Plan for 2023 to 2025, according to the trade union. To help with the power crisis, the group's legal department has sent a legal letter to Eskom requesting a ban on racial hiring at the utility. Solidarity emphasized the critical necessity for the employment of the best abilities in jobs regardless of race in South Africa. The larger background is what makes this so fascinating. The Secretary of State for Health is the licensing authority in accordance with the Human Medicines Regulations.
