To answer this let’s first clarify this. There are two rights for every song, the composition and the masters. The composition right is sort of the start of the song, the idea, the progression and the masters is final tangible audio of the song that can be released into the world from that initial idea.
So composition rights are formally known as Publishing rights and the other is Masters right.
To regulate this to producers and beat makers, a producer will always own their publishing rights unless sold exclusively to a client or party. | 502 |
