Toronto – The Ethiopian Parliament on Tuesday approved the revised “Land Release, Compensation, and Resettlement  of the Settlers Proclamation”  which will be referred to as Proclamation No.1336/2016 . According to sources, four parliamentarians voted “no” and six others abstained.

The Prime Minister was also heard echoing the same sentiment repeatedly. However, it is a hollow call for peace without genuine steps being taken. Our first imperative should be the unification of the government. Ethiopia must strive to establish a government that authentically represents all our people, one that champions justice, equality, progress, and development for every citizen.

Toronto – The Ministry of Finance on Tuesday announced that a 4,7 million Euro agreement is signed with the government of Italy.  

Toronto – thousands of outraged Tigray women took to the street to condemn gender-based violence, rape, and kidnapping in the region. The protest was in Mekelle, the regional capital.  It was organized by women rights activists and women associations in the region, according to sources. 

Toronto – Ethiopia’s former Minister for Foreign Affairs and President of Amhara region, Gedu Andargachew met with the U.S. Ambassador to Ethiopia, Ervin Massinga. Yilkal Getnet, former Semayawi Party leader, was present during the meeting that appears to be a diplomatic effort to explain Fano and its growing armed movement. 

Toronto – Fresh fighting between Fano and government forces reported in Gojjam, Amhara region of Ethiopia. Adet and Merawi town, both of them are near Bahir Dar City, are the places where the latest clash took place.
