And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way." God (the owner) planted the vineyard, sent prophets (servants, beaten/killed), then His Son (Jesus)—whom the wicked husbandmen (Jews after the flesh) murdered to seize the inheritance. - "He will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others" (v.9). The transfer is permanent: kingdom blessings to Christians which is true Israel by faith (Gal. 3:29). - "The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner" (v.10; Ps. 118:22).
