I think that we are experiencing a moment in our Europe which is existential because I really believe that our Europe can die. There is a form of fascination with authoritarianism which is born in our own democracies, which also feeds nationalism and other extremes on our continent.

Although I agree with Macron about Europe being in serious danger, it's precisely because of clowns like him that it's the case. It's not about some vague threat of "extremism" or "authoritarianism," unless he means pathetic stooges like himself. He and his ilk are pushing the EU to suicide through domestic and foreign policy. These people have mastered the art of turning things on their heads and gaslighting. He's made every bad decision a president can make and here he is talking about the death of the EU. NATO boss takes apparent swipe at Biden, argues to end restrictions on US weapons for Russian targets NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg argued that Ukraine should be able to use American weapons to strike inside Russian territory, in an apparent break with the Biden administration.

I think the time has come for allies to consider whether they should lift some of the restrictions they put on the use of weapons they have donated to Ukraine because, especially now when a lot of the fighting is going on in Kharkiv, close to the border. To deny Ukraine the possibility of using these weapons against legitimate military targets on Russian territory makes it very hard for them to defend themselves.

Yes, because Ukraine is renowned for their attacks on military targets... Some people argue that Ukraine already uses NATO weapons to hit Russian territory, and it's true. US "deeply concerned" over China military drills in Taiwan Strait, State Department says The US State Department said on Saturday that the United States was "deeply concerned" over China's military drills in the Taiwan Strait and around Taiwan, and strongly urged it to act with restraint. "Using a normal, routine, and democratic transition as an excuse for military provocations risks escalation and erodes longstanding norms that for decades have maintained peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait," the State Department said in a statement. The department issued the statement after China ended two days of war games around Taiwan in which it simulated attacks with bombers and practiced boarding ships, exercises that Taiwan condemned as "blatant provocation" on Saturday. ...so concerned that they continue the provocations with another delegation to Taiwan which is to take place soon. Additionally, half of Americans say they view fast food as a luxury because they're struggling financially. This is especially true among Americans who make less than $30,000 a year (71%), parents with young children (58%), Gen Zers (58%) and women (53%). Unfortunately, there were many people in the US who relied on fast food for cheap food. That's becoming increasingly impossible, because it's getting too expensive. The Big Mac menu is some $14 now, depending on where you live, which used to be the price of a meal in a good restaurant. Everything is great in the US, the Dow Jones is at 40,000! Israel responds to ICJ ruling to halt Rafah assault by massacring dozens The World Court ruled Israel must immediately halt its assault on Rafah as part of the ongoing case accusing Tel Aviv of genocide. Friday's ruling by the ICJ came as part of an ongoing case to determine if Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. The ruling is a provisional measure to halt Israeli military action in response to its ongoing attack on Rafah, which has killed hundreds of Palestinians and displaced hundreds of thousands who had already been displaced by Israeli bombing in Gaza's north. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu denied the allegations in the case brought by South Africa that Israel was carrying out genocide in Gaza as "false, outrageous and morally repugnant." So far, my scepticism about the ICJ ruling proved to have been justified. Israel doesn't care about the ICJ and neither do their enablers. Hungary wants to "redefine" its NATO membership, Orban says Hungary is working to "redefine" the country's NATO membership status to allow it to potentially opt-out from the military alliance's deepening support for Ukraine, Prime Minister Viktor Orban said. Hungarian military officials and lawyers are already working on trying to come up with a new concept that would differentiate the country from other members of NATO, Orban said in a state radio interview on Friday. "Our lawyers and officers are hard at work to see how Hungary can maintain its NATO membership in a way that it wouldn't have to take part in NATO actions outside of NATO territory," Orban said. Here we go, NATO is starting to fall apart. Sure, this is a small step, but it's a step nevertheless. Hungary is only the beginning.
