помогите, скачал никсос и после этого пропали все друзья. поможет ли ролбек или это мутабельное состояние?
actually happy about the results, it's bright enough to work from a coffee shop or some place like this
but not sure if it's worth the money, but it's definitely an upgrade
So I tried Nix on top of a clean arch setup today
Tbh isn't going so great. Was trying to install everything I can through nix, but had python version conflicts, unix_chkpwd didn't want to work, mesa driver problems and moreee
Many of those are open issues on git but u meet them the first day of using nix
Not sure if it's worth it, still ended up with not fully declarative/reproducible system but with extra steps on setting everything up
P.S. I like the idea of nix and i think they are trying to do the right thing, but a bit annoyed by the results, not user friendly at all
for yall saying that thinkpads are repairable af
ofc that's not apple
but for the screen frame: some stuff is glued, some is hold by a plastic clips. Hate it kinda. Removing is ewww, putting it back probably is going to be kinda pain
When u take off the frame it layers off
framework did it better
planning to repair my laptop's screen now, it's a thinkpad t480s
it also should have better brightness then, one of my main painpoints with that laptop. Gonna see if still suitable for work, go out with it a couple of times to cafes and stuff and going to review
as for the screen I'm buying it's N140HCG-GQ2
Had strong headaches cuz of using the wrong glasses for work (used -2.5 with -3 vision)
Only now got to know that I need a separate -1.5 dioptries glasses which would be good for working on PC
and now I'm curious why don't we have just some glasses that change their focus. Like imagine glasses that track what u look at and make u a perfect vision for that exact object, using some liquid crystal optics, lidars, cameras. Would be cyberpunk af. And glasses probably could be setup for any prescription anytime
But those are just a bit of sci fi thoughts, not sure what technical limitations would be
Now imagine an evil ceo who sells u vision for a subscription when your eyes forget how to focus themselves XD

A bit of offtop, but just my thoughts on why u shouldn't grow your kids in serbia with the current education system
In serbia u cannot homeschool your kids, like there is no way to until u are a gypsy, but education system is fairly broken too
The closest analogy to how the education system here works is:
@@@
The program requires kids to do things
@@@
System says kids must learn how to put in nails with a stick. They should put 5 nails with a stick a week. That helps to develop their hands. It isn't hard, right? Just listen and put 5 nails with a stick as your homework
@@@
Why not use a hammer to put in nails? Like who the fuck even uses stick for putting in nails? U shouldn't dare to ask. System says so
@@@
Kid who used hammer for nails gets punished since "he was cheating"... (like cheating on homework? seriously?)
@@@
Kid must struggle putting nails with stick from 4th to 8th grade, system says. Otherwise he won't pass
@@@
No one should dare to ask. When u talk with teachers saying that system is broken and simply stupid they get angry. They say kids should learn about hammer only in uni
===
And literally all the system teaches u to do bullshit and don't ask questions. No critical thinking, no logic, no proper use of tools that exist everywhere nowadays. This system is the reason why society is so bs, this system might be an explanation for everything shitty that happens now in east Europe
And the funny thing is that people taught by that system actually keep protecting that system even though it's clearly bad
===
Note that analogy here is actually fairly close to real life, I'm not talking about using computers or LLMs or something like this. No, just literal physical tools and logic are considered as "cheating"
