Dosto, Mains result of Indian Forest Services has come out. So of us could qualify, majority of us couldn’t. For those of us who got through, let’s feel a sense of gratitude towards our Almighty and a sense of appreciation towards yourself for the countless hours of studies that you went thorugh, mental battles that you fought and the mental strength that you developed and fortitude that you showed to reach to this stage. But the work is still UNFINISHED. We all know that interview marks can vary between 140-225 or even greater and we also know how BIG of a range this is. For those of us who have both Civils and Forest interviews, preparation for civils and forest interviews would already have started. And there would be many overlapping content, so former would also help in the latter. For those of us who only have forest interview, please let us not think that dates are far far ahead and that there is a lot of time. Of course, there is a lot of time, but if the only thing that is in our control is our efforts, shouldn't our efforts be more than just adequate. I am not asking you to go full throttle, but at least start the vehicle in 1st gear, build the flow, build the momentum. There should be no regret later on that we should have begun earlier. I will be with you in this journey, and help you out in whatever way I can, including in terms of reading material. For those of us, who could not be so lucky to get in the list, I know that the last night must have been so heavy. The pang of failure hurts deep and it will keep on hurting for a few more days. At least, that is what I used to go through. If you have attempts left and want to try out once again, do come back with all enthusiasm and energy. This process is so cruel, it offers no sympathy, no rewards for us unless we find our names in the final PDF. लेकिन अब नदी में कूद ही गए है तो मगरमच्छ से क्या डरना ( now that we have decided to jump in the river, why to fear the crocodiles ) We need only one good year where all our stars align and we sailed through. However, to enable us to reach the level where we allow our luck to work for us, we need to work smart now ( by ’smart’ I mean hard work with right approach ). Again, in this journey, I will be with you, including in terms of helping you with reading materials. For those who decided to move on, or have exhausted their attempts, I can only offer a sincerest ‘All the very Best’ I just saw a video which said that Ravi Shankar Prasad, Arvind Subramaniam and many others also attempted but could not clear UPSC ( though I couldn’t verify the correctness of the statement), and now many of those who cleared UPSC report to them. So probably it is not just hollow words when I say that SKY IS THE LIMIT. We do not know where our career would lead us to 15-20 years down the line. However, sincere efforts should never be stopped at any point in our life. Now, you need to think properly and plan out a career - that may include attempting other exams, or joining private sector, or going for higher studies in India and abroad. But, I cannot overemphasize the importance of proper planning to decide on the way ahead. Also, use the internet and try to catch hold of a mentor /friend who can guide you properly in this regard. Probably, whatever I have written above is already known to all of us, and there’s nothing new in these words. But sometimes we need/want someone to say to us even the obvious. Hello dosto, kaise h aap log. Hopefully all of us are in good health and spirits. Another year has just gone by and a new year has begun. For some of us, this year was an absolute gift. For other of us, it was a nightmare. And for many of us, it was just another year that passed by. But life doesn’t stop for any of us. Some of us have been generously bestowed with an opportunity to face Personality Test ( interview ) by the mighty UPSC, in part due to their hard work, smart work and in part due to their luck ( let us not discount this factor too ) And many of us have to do with failure ( or yet another failure ). For the former ones, it’s your duty to give your all, in-fact more than all, until the day of your interview. On the morning of the interview, one should have a feeling of satisfaction that he/she has given his/her all. Otherwise it would be disrespectful towards that golden chance that you have got, unjust for the amount of efforts you have put and the sacrifices you have made upto this part of your journey and also unfair towards others who didn’t get quite the opportunity even after being ( probably ) equally deserving. For those of us who can still give an attempt, please let’s not waste any time. Consistency and perseverance were our strong virtues and let’s continue to bank on them. After few days, cycle of prelims will begin and we have not much time left for strengthening our Mains part. Let us also go through the approaches of our preparation, let’s try to revisit our answers and see if/how improvements can be made. Easier said than done, but believe me I know the feeling because I know how it feels, because I have travelled on the same path as many of us are travelling on right now. But is there any other way out than whole hearted serious effort ? When the reward is of high value, the risks are equally high. We all knew this and implicitly accepted this when we started the preparation. So, if there is any fuel left in us, let’s burn it till the time flame completey extinguishes. For those of us who have either exhausted their attempts or have decided to move on, whatever I will write will seem hollow. Sometimes all our efforts, put in with all sincerity, doesn’t fructify. But probably all of that wouldn’t go in vain. Whatever we have learnt during the journey ( and not just in terms of books ), the perseverance we have developed, the ups and downs we have gone through, the range of emotions we have tackled and the strength we have developed to go on and on in spite of all the hurdles and obstacles coming in the way. We have become war-hardened soldiers, much more adept at navigating the challenges of life than most others. Hopefully, for those of us whose UPSC journey has ended, life will give better opportunities, throw more beautiful gifts and bestow much more happiness. I wish you all a year full of health and happiness. Hopefully, someday we will get to meet. Your friend, Apurv.

Dosto, Many many congratulations to those who cleared mains. For those that could not make it, I know how it feels . A feeling that cannot be described . I always took a few days to come to my normal self , though I looked cheerful from my outward demeanour. All of us have different ways to deal with pain. For me it was not showing my feeling, pain and disappointment to the outside world. For those of my friends, every word of consolation will feel so hollow. I would just pray to God that we get the strength to bear with all that life throws at us .

The only imp thing at this point is : In English, PLEASE try not to make any grammatical, spelling, punctuation mistakes. In both GK and English : please complete the paper. In GK especially, even if you don’t know answer to any question, try to write whatever you know about it. ( of course, that something shouldn’t be anything and unrelated ). Because every marks is important, fight for it. You have been a fighter till this point, show your spirit today also. Please , this is my sincere request from you : complete the paper 🙏🏽

This file also contains some attached pages of Apoorv Dixit Sir's notes. Also, the most important thing is to go for optimization rather than excellence. Meaning that, don't go into knowing too many details of a particular topic such that it starts compromising with knowing enough about other ones.

Dosto, it's a bit late, but I am trying to upload my geology notes after getting some of them scanned. How I think you can make use of these notes : 1. Use it selectively for topics which are frequently asked but you have lack of content on those topics/questions ( Do this especially for frequently asked questions ) 2. For FAQs ( as inferred from PYQs ) , see if these notes provide some value addition/extra concepts to add to your original notes 2. Diagrams can be taken out form them and incorporated.
