Restored roof in Слатине / Slatyne village, Charkiv region. House 6 Pleasant and kind grandpa Volodymyr moved from Kyiv region more then 40 years ago to Charkiv region and stayed here to live with his wife. Near their house grows a large bush of red viburnum, which they are really proud of. The house survived but the roof was damaged. Together with Theater of hopes and expectations we are beginning to build a house for a large family in Слобода Кухарська / Sloboda Kucharska village, Kyiv region. This family consists of grandmother Olena, daughter Inna and three small grandchildren. The girls' father serves in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This year, Livyj Bereh had an exhibition as a part of Theater of hopes and expectations in Düsseldorf. The idea emerged, after the exhibition program was over, to transfer the structure of the building to Ukraine as the completion of the project to build a house for people whose own home was destroyed. Later, the pavilion was disassembled and brought from Germany to Ukraine on the big track. We received the material and unloaded it. Theater of hopes and expectations also finances the construction and purchase of other necessary materials. Thanks to Mnpl workshop for the house design plan. Restored roof in Слатине / Slatyne village, Charkiv region. House 4 The house in which Victorija lives with her daughter Kateryna and a bedridden grandmother was hit by shelling three times at different intervals of time. As a result of falling into the backyard, the walls of the house were partially damaged and the roof of the house was destroyed. At that time, all three of them were at home and were strewn with fragments from the windows from the blast wave. Kateryna studies at the university remotely, there is almost no internet connection in the village. She constantly has to search the Internet to continue her studies. They also feed the neighboring cats, so you can often see them in the yard. Now the roof has been completely restored and the house has been preserved. Слатине / Slatyne village, Charkiv region. House 3 This is house of Oleksandr and Svitlana. They used to have a household and produced dairy products. The man had been building and improving their home for many years by himself. Their house was hit directly by missile. At that moment, Oleksandr went to their daughter, and his wife was in the summer kitchen. Svitlana was stung by the blast wave in the corner near the wall and nailed by stones from the collapsed wall. She climbed out of the rubble barefoot and went to her neighbors. Svitlana talked about the moment when the rocket hit quite discreetly, but when she remembered the cattle that were stoned, she burst into tears. The owners still have a lot of restoration work to do, but the house is covered, which means it is protected. Restoration of the roof in the first house in Слатине / Slatyne village, Charkiv region On the first day of distribution of metal for the roof’s restoration, Oleksandr and his relatives immediately started working and had covered one side of the house. We were pleasantly surprised, the efficiency of their work became an example for others. Locals saw that this building material is easy to work with and they can quickly cover the roof of the house with their own efforts. People got hope that even living so close to the border, where there may be shelling from time to time, they have the opportunity to get back to normal warm life in their homes. We brought 1150 m2 of metal tiles to restore the roofs in Слатине / Slatyne village, Charkiv region. In the administrative center of hromada, we were told that our team were the first to arrive with the idea of the roof’s restoration in that part of Charkiv region, which is still dangerous to live in. Our goal during this trip was to check each house according to the list of requests that we received from the head of the village, to select the first families that need urgent roofing, to organize people, distribute them metal tiles and start working promptly in order to be in time for the severe cold. The next phase of the school reconstruction — sports hall, is almost finished. Before that, we had already installed 14 small windows in the gym. Further on, our builders begun the restoration of an old window glass blocks. These windows were damaged by shrapnel after the explosion, but thanks to their structure, there was a possibility of partial restoration. The builders dismantled window after window and put in anew with new cement solution and glass blocks that we bought. So, the windows in the gym are ready. Only minor cosmetic work remains. The principal of the school said at the meeting that it already became warmer! Restored roof with wooden structures in Калинове / Kalynove village, Kyiv region. A small, beautiful village in the north of Kyiv region was heavily destroyed during hostilities. As a result of shelling, the roof of the house were totally broken-down including wooden constructions. This family also had a home in Буча / Buča, which was destroyed as a result of being hit by an enemy weapons. We found out that the family had no other choice than to live in this house, so we decided to help them. We restore roof frame, partially restored ceiling beams, slate covering and lining.
